The Heartless Alpha’s Beloved Luna (Avery and Gideon) novel Chapter 591

Avery’s POV

My mother did up the last button on my dress with hands that hadn’t stopped shaking all day.

“There,” she said, stepping back to look at me. The dress was simple, ivory, sleeves to the elbow, nothing exactly spectacular—but it was exactly what I’d wanted. Her eyes traveled down it, and she had to dab at her eyes with the handkerchief she’d been saving for the ceremony.

“Well,” she said. “I guess this is it.”

I smiled, stepping forward, and wrapped her in an embrace. My mother sank into it easily, sniffling against my shoulder.

“I’m not going anywhere,” I laughed. “Just saying some vows and having a party and coming home.”

“Still.” She pulled back just enough to look at me and cupped my face in one hand, which was still trembling. “I look at you and I still see that frightened young girl from all those years ago, and tonight you’re going to be a Luna, and… it’s all a lot for your old mother.”

“Trust me,” I said, glancing out the window, where I could see Bjorn pacing the lawn with his hands in the pocket of his little tuxedo, looking all too much like Gideon. “I’m sure I’ll know the feeling one day.”

My mother chuffed as she followed my gaze. “Something tells me that boy will be someone completely different when he’s all grown up. Not at all like the one we know now.”

I shot her a look. “Don’t,” I warned, but we were both smiling.

Bjorn walked me down the path.
