Chapter 172 Revealing Another Face
Drakonius was staring at the screen, where a “financial expert” was now speculating wildly about whether the Chimera Protocol was even real or just an elaborate scam to funnel money. His face was pale with fury. “He’s not just trying to hurt you. He’s trying to destroy the one thing that could save lives. He’s trying to kill the cure to get to you.”
Elera sank into a chair, her mind racing. The board was panicking. The regulators were circling. The company she’d built from nothing was crumbling under the weight of a lie. She had two choices.
She could try to fight the story. Issue denials, hire crisis PR and sue for libel. It would take months, maybe years. The company wouldn’t survive that long. The research would stall. Drakonius’s treatment…
Or.
She could do something drastic. Something that would change the game completely.
“Clara,” she said, her voice surprisingly calm. “Cancel the statement.”
Clara looked up, confused. “What? Elera, we have to say something-”
“We are. But not a denial.” Elera stood up, pacing. “He wants to attack Nethys Medical’s finances? Fine. Let’s make that story irrelevant. Let’s give them a bigger one.”
Drakonius understood first. A slow, proud smile spread across his face. “You’re going to bail it out.”
“Publicly,” Elera confirmed. “I’m going to inject enough personal capital to not only stabilize the stock, but to show absolute, unshakeable confidence in the company. I’m going to stand in front of the cameras and my board, and I’m going to write a check so large it drowns out his lies.”
Clara’s eyes went wide. “But… that means you have to reveal where that money is coming from. You’d have to disclose another identity. The world already knows you’re Raven and the CEO. You’d be adding ‘secret fashion mogul to the list. They’ll call you a megalomaniac, a pathological liar with too many aliases!”
“Let them,” Elera said, fire in her eyes. “Let them call me whatever they want. While they’re busy debating how many secret careers one woman can have, my company will be solvent, my research will continue. and my husband will keep getting his treatment. And everyone will see that Kieran Nethys’s best shot couldn’t take me down. He just made me show another card.”
She looked at Drakonius. “What do you think?”
“I think,” he said, walking over to her and taking her hands, “that you are the most terrifyingly brilli person I have ever met. And I think it will work. It’s a power move. It doesn’t just solve the crisis, it
dub a legend.”
Frost gave a solemn nod. “This sound great. It turns his attack into your platform.”
Clara threw her hands up, then started laughing. “Okay! Okay! So we’re not doing crisis management. We’re doing a reveal! Round three! I can work with this! But the logistics… Elera, you’d need to move billions. From accounts tied to Celestine and your Raven royalties. That paper trail has to be pristine, and it has to happen fast.”

“Then we move fast,” Elera said. She felt a strange, exhilarating clarity. The fear was gone, burned away by decision. “Clara, call the board back. Tell them I will be at the emergency meeting, and I will present the solution. Then get me a press conference slot for immediately after. The biggest venue you can get on short notice.”
“Drakonius,” she turned to him. “I need your legal team. We need to structure this so it’s not seen as a personal loan but as a capital infusion from a new major stakeholder–me, in another hat. It has to be
clean.”
“Consider it done.”
She took a deep breath, looking at the three of them–her editor, her protector, her husband. Her team. “He thinks he’s backed me into a corner. He thinks this is a checkmate.”
She smiled, a sharp, dangerous smile.
“Let’s show him he doesn’t even know how the game is played.”
