Chloe looked into Lilian’s eyes and felt a chill run down her spine. Her voice shook. “You… you wouldn’t dare. No matter what, you’re still my dad’s daughter. People would call you cold–blooded and heartless if you did that.”

Lilian laughed. “You think I give a damn what people think? Chloe, this is your final warning. If I catch you pulling stunts behind my back one more time, I’m following through on everything I just said. Go ahead and doubt me if you want, but don’t come crying to me when it happens. My patience has a limit.”

Chloe stared at her. She knew Lilian wasn’t bluffing.

She didn’t even remember how she managed to leave the Skyreach building. She was completely out of it. Lilian didn’t bother much with the other woman, Amy.

“The company is falling apart and he’s not here?” Robert barked. “Go find him! If you don’t bring him back, don’t bother coming into work tomorrow!”

The assistant scrambled out of the room.

Robert looked at the piles of folders on his desk, his eyes bloodshot. Thinking about everything that happened today made him sick with rage.

He never expected a young girl to back him into a corner like this. Partners pulling out, Rowan getting arrested and it all led back to her.
