Chapter 931 A Crisis Of Trust
In the end, Cary was dragged away, marking the beginning of the absolute erasure of the Chris family from Murica.
The ballroom was nearly empty now.
Lilian surveyed the wreckage of the hall and turned to Eric. “Let’s go. It’s over. It’s time to head back.”

Eric looked at her, his voice gentle and knowing. “Do you really think Sebastian is going to let you leave with me? Besides, you traveled all this way just to see him. Now that the dust has finally settled, why are you in such a rush to run away?”
Lilian shot him an annoyed glare. “Are you coming or not? Because if you’re staying, I’m leaving by myself.”
Eric sighed, a helpless smile playing on his lips. “Fine, we’re going. But at least have the decency to say goodbye to your elders before we bolt.”
He caught Lilian’s arm and led her over to Uriel and Derrick. “Since everything is wrapped up here, we’ll be taking our leave. If you need a hand with the aftermath, don’t hesitate to reach out.”
Uriel smiled warmly. “You’re being far too modest. We owe you and Lilian a debt of gratitude. If it weren’t for the both of you, the consequences tonight would have been unthinkable.”
The night’s events had given her a clear picture of Lilian. The girl was resourceful, brave, and unnervingly calm under pressure. She hadn’t flinched once, even when facing death.
Most importantly, when things were at their worst, she hadn’t abandoned Sebastian. Uriel was more than satisfied with her future daughter–in–law; though it was clear these two still had some serious knots to untie. It was enough to give anyone a headache.
Eric laughed. “You’re joking. I barely did a thing. My little firecracker here did all the heavy lifting. She wouldn’t have left even if I’d dragged her.”
Uriel turned her soft gaze toward the girl, her voice filled with sincerity. “Lilian, thank you. If it wasn’t for you tonight, I think all of us would be buried under this hotel right now. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”
Lilian felt a flush of embarrassment. “Please don’t say that. I didn’t do much. Even without me, I’m sure Sebastian would have handled it. You really don’t need to thank me. I imagine you have a lot of work ahead of you, so Eric and I will get out of your way.” She turned to make her exit.
“What’s the rush?” Uriel asked with a playful smile. “At least say something to Sebastian before you go.” She looked past Lilian and signaled toward the back of the room. “Hurry up! Lilian’s trying to make a break for it!”
Lilian spun around. Sebastian was standing just a few feet away, watching her.
As the man walked toward her step by step, her heart began to race against her will. When his shadow finally fell over her, her eyes stung with a sudden, painful heat.
All the worry, the forced composure, and the deep–seated hurt of the past few weeks came rushing back. She lowered her head, refusing to look him in the eye.
Sebastian saw her reddened eyes and her stubborn stance. A fond, indulgent smile touched his lips. “What? Are you planning to ignore your fiancé?”
Lilian’s voice was thick with unshed tears. “You aren’t my fiance anymore. I told you I don’t want you. As of today, you’re dumped.”
