“He’s a businessman through and through. I never thought I’d see him lose this badly in public”
Stella took a sip of coffee and set the cup down gently.
“Did he hate my mother?”
Jasper shook his head,
Your mother and I grew up together. He never opposed us. From what I could tell, he didn’t dislike Nicole
at first. It was only after the Shaws and Moores had their falling out that he started to resent her.”
“Did you disobey him often? Because of her?”
Jasper’s brow furrowed slightly as he thought back. Then he gave a small nod.
You think he had something to do with what happened to your mother?”
“Hard to say.”
Stella slid a small bottle across the table toward him. “I made these for you. They’re good for your health.”
For a moment, Jasper just stared at it. Then a rare smile crossed his face–one she hadn’t seen before
“Stella. Thank you.”
His eyes glistened. She hadn’t called him Dad yet, but this–this was enough.
That man–that criminal–I won’t let him hurt you.”
“I know,”
She wasn’t the same person she used to be. She wasn’t afraid.
Jasper’s phone buzzed. Then again. And again. Finally, he turned it off.
The Moores?
“Don’t worry about them.”
Stella didn’t push. She’d lost the energy for shopping anyway. She wanted to go home and study the files on Moore family household staff
“Stella. Would you ever consider moving in with me?”
“Not right now.
But she’d said “right now“. Not “never” Jasper held onto that.
After walking her to her door, he headed to Moore Manor.

You have some nerve showing your face here. Look what your daughter did. Trying to send her own grandfather to jail–so filial.”
Amber’s voice dripped with sarcasm.
Jasper didn’t even look at her.
“Enough. This isn’t chaotic enough for you?”
Mark rubbed his temples, exhausted. He dealt with enough stress at work. He didn’t need this at home.
Jasper. It’s good to have you back.”
Jasper acknowledged him with a short nod.
“If you have a problem with me, come at me directly.”
Jasper’s laugh was cold. Your lies fell apart, and still you spread rumors that my daughter was some kind of other woman. What did she ever do to you? Is this how you treat family? You think she has no one backing her?”
Felix said nothing.
Today had been a humiliation he wouldn’t forget.
“You were the one who loved her most, weren’t you? Doesn’t feel so good when the knife’s in your own chest, does it?”
At the mention of her. Amber went still. “What are you trying to say?”
I don’t need to spread rumors. I’m above that.”
Sienna kept her mouth shut, terrified the anger might swing her way. She’d been scrolling through her phone when her expression froze.
“Mom. What what is this?”
Amber grabbed the tablet.

“Dad”
Amber’s voice broke into sobs.
Felix finally stirred. Jasper. She’s your sister. What exactly are you trying to do?”
“My sister?” Jasper’s laugh was sharp, hollow. “Is she really my sister? Are you so sure this is the real
Amber?”
The room went dead silent.

“What kind of nonsense are you spouting?”
Felix’s breath came uneven.
Amber’s face drained of color. She crumpled to the floor.
Sienna’s head whipped back and forth between them, disbelief written across her face.
Leo frowned but said nothing. The questions lodged in his throat.
Mark closed his eyes, pressed his fingers to his temples, and let out a long, tired sigh.
“You think I’m making this up?”
Jasper ran his tongue over his teeth, tugged at his collar. When he turned, his eyes were hard.
“You’re something else. You made my mother raise the child of the woman you could never have. Let her believe it was her own.”
Gasps echoed through the room.
