“Do you do you believe I’ll report you to the principal? You’ll lose your job as a teacher!”

Jasmine snapped, furious.

Stella smiled faintly, “Enjoy writing apology letters that much?”

Jasmine and Silas clenched their fists unconsciously, their hands trembling with anger.

“Jasmine, shut up,” Ruby said, rubbing her temples in frustration.

Jasmine scowled, but thinking about the Harlow family’s situation, she swallowed her resentment.

She turned to say something to Stella, but Stella was already gone.

Ruby, despite her age, had no choice but to chase after her for the sake of the family.

“Stella, wait!”

Stella paused, glancing back. She spoke loudly for everyone to hear, “I returned those tiles to you. Plenty of students can testify. We’re even now. As for digging up my mother’s grave and stealing the cemetery rent I paid without my permission–the courts will decide that. Please stop pestering me.”

Ruby froze, feeling the stares of onlookers. She wanted to sink into the ground from embarrassment.

Stella was throwing back every bit of respect she’d offered.

Fine, she asks for it.

Stella drove away.

“Mom, what do we do?”

“It’s fine. If push comes to shove, we’ll go to court. We might not lose,” Ruby said, trying to reassure her.

“Silas, take Jasmine out for a bit. I’ll handle this. Everything will be okay,” Ruby told him.

Silas nodded.

Who knew the Harlow family was so fragile?

Good thing he and Jasmine weren’t engaged yet.

“Jasmine, stay with your mom. I’ll figure out something for your dad,” Silas said.

“Thank you, Silas,” Jasmine replied.

As soon as Silas left, he had someone contact the genius composer Nirvana.

He’d just noticed. Stella’s pen and notebook were merchandise from Iris‘ concert last

year.

Even if he couldn’t win over Iris, there was still Stella. She had no connections, but a good reputation–and most importantly, she was beautiful.

Either of them was better than Jasmine.

At Imperial Crest Towers, Stella had just gotten out of her car when she ran into Elias and Gideon.

“Miss Shaw, what a coincidence!”

Gideon smiled awkwardly.

It wasn’t a coincidence at all. Elias had dragged him here for a “chance” meeting.

Stella smiled and nodded in greeting, then headed for the building.

“Miss Shaw, wait!”

Stella looked at Gideon in confusion. “Yes?”

“You see, Mr. Cross needs a personal doctor,” Gideon explained.

“No time.”

Gideon opened his mouth, then clamped it shut as he watched her walk away, the rest of his words dying in his throat.

“You can leave now,” Elias said.

“Got it.”

Gideon turned and ran, not hesitating for a second.

He’d definitely overestimated himself.

Romance wasn’t his thing. He was better off being a workhorse, pulling overtime or helping Leo find people.

Elias chased after Stella, blocking the elevator door with his hand.

“Stella.”

“Yes?”

“That pill you gave me last time worked wonders. Do you have more? I’d like to buy some,” he said.

“One million dollars per bottle.”

“I’ll transfer the money now.”

Elias sent the transfer immediately.

“Anything else?”

Stella asked coolly, noticing he still hadn’t moved.

“When will you race me?”

“I’ll find you when I’m free.”

“Good.”

Stella glanced at his hand on the elevator door. Elias pulled it away quickly.

The elevator doors closed slowly, hiding her from view.

Her coldness stunned Elias for a long time.

No one had ever treated him like that.

This girl is interesting.

Stella had just gotten home when her phone rang–it was Tess.

“Boss, I found some info about your mom.”

Stella’s grip on the phone tightened, her expression tense.
