Chapter 269 The Return of the Enemy
Tess took his hand and walked quickly outside.
Frederick noticed her hand was ice–cold, so he sped up his steps.
She was the one who was scared.
But she clearly loved the thrill.
“Tess.”
“What?”
“I’m scared. Can you hold me?”
Tess looked around, then pulled him toward the car.
Once inside, she hugged him tightly.
Frederick smiled to himself.
Silly girl–scared but still eager to watch.
“Frederick, I heard distracting yourself helps with fear.”
“How?”
“Like this…”
Before she finished, Tess kissed him deeply.
Frederick smiled tenderly and kissed her back.
He loved every time she took the lead.
The air inside the car grew hot.
Suddenly, Frederick pushed her away. “Let’s go home.”
They were in public, and he wanted to protect her reputation,
“Okay.”
Tess touched her burning cheeks and smoothed her wrinkled clothes.
She opened the door. Cool wind calmed her racing heart.
Frederick took a deep breath. The cold air dimmed his desire.
Tess was about to get into the passenger seat when she froze. She stared into the distance.
It’s him.

Chapter 269 The Return of the Enemy
Why is he back in Azure Peak?
How dare he return?
Hasn’t his whole family fled abroad?
He looks worn down–clearly living badly.
“Tess, what’s wrong?” Frederick walked over worriedly and stroked her head.
“Frederick… isn’t that Silas?”
“Who?”
“The jerk who spread rumors about Stella.”
Frederick immediately knew who she meant.
He’d thought the Thorne family had wisely run away for good.
But now he was back?

Tess frowned. “Let’s go first. I need to find out why he’s here. If he dares go near Stella or talk trash. I’ll beat him,”
“Don’t frown. I won’t let him hurt Stella.”
Frederick fastened her seatbelt and drove off.
At North Azure Peak Cemetery.
Silas stared at the row of tombstones. Sorrow flooded him. He clenched his fists until his knuckles turn white, filled with rage and grief.
His family was gone–only he remained.
He hated. He resented.
He’d fled the city with his family. Yet because of Stella, his family was destroyed.
“Grandpa, Dad, Mom… we’re home. Rest in peace.”
Silas left the cemetery and checked into a local hotel.
Tess had been digging into his information. When she saw the entire family except Silas was dead, she was shocked.
“Have some juice.” Frederick handed her fresh–squeezed juice.
She took it, drank half, and licked her lips.

Chapter 269 The Return of the Enemy
Frederick leaned down and kissed her softly. “What are you reading?”
“Silas came back to bury his family.”
Tess studied the details, still frowning. “It’s strange. No accidents. No illness.”
Frederick read it too, surprised. “They all died from anger and grief?”
“You think it’s weird too, right?”
“Yeah.”
“Stella has class at Azure Peak University tomorrow. I have to watch over her.”
“I’ll go with you.”
Tess shook her head. “Him? I could take him down in a minute.”
“What if he has help?”
“Even better. Practice.”
Frederick rubbed her head. “Don’t get hurt.”
“Hurt? Not a chance.”
“I’ll have people guard you and Stella. No need to fight yourself.”
“Fine.”
Tess rested her head on his lap. “I’ll nap for a bit. Wake me in half an hour.”
“Qkay, sleep.”
He stroked her face gently.
She was exhausted from worrying about Stella, and it pained him.
Silasis small fry, but Stella has no time for him.
Better tell Elias.
Frederick sent a quick message to Elias, warning him about Silas.
With him involved, Stella would be safe.
The next day.
Azure Peak University.
