Chapter 351 No Victory for Bullies
“If your daughter’s been arrested, go to the police!”
“Protect Ms. Shaw!”
Jennifer stared at Stella, who was surrounded by students. All the acting she’d rehearsed repeatedly at home had nowhere to go–completely useless.
“Your daughter is?” Stella asked calmly.
“Sloan Ryker,” Jennifer replied.
“Oh, so it’s her,” Stella said softly, recognition dawning.
Tears streamed down Jennifer’s face as she pleaded. “Mrs. Cross, she’s young and foolish. Please, be the bigger person–forgive her.”
“How old is she?” Stella pressed.
“Twenty–four.”
At that, Stella smiled faintly, her gaze cool and detached. “Your daughter accused my child publicly with no evidence. She bribed a truck driver to try and kill her. She even tried to stage a fake rescue–making it look like she saved my daughter and her boyfriend.”
She paused, letting the words sink in before continuing sharply. “All so I, Stella Shaw, would lose my daughter. And on top of that, I’d be forced to owe her a huge debt of gratitude. All so my daughter’s boyfriend would remember her ‘heroic act and marry her–taking care of her for the rest of his life.”
She turned to the couple, her voice steady but firm. “I want to ask you–why aren’t you going to the police? Why aren’t you hiring a lawyer? Instead, you brought reporters here to grovel at my feet. Are you trying to guilt–trip me? Or start a cyberbullying campaign against me? Or interfere with the course of justice?”
Her words hit like a punch. Jennifer’s tears suddenly stopped, hanging in her eyes, and she looked to her husband helplessly.

Eric had always prided himself on his way with words, but now he was thrown off balance. “Mrs. Cross, she knows she was wrong,” he stammered.
“You should say that to the judge,” Stella shot back.
With that, she turned her gaze to the tabloid reporters hiding in the shadows. “And what about you? Hiding in the dark–what are you planning?”
Her aura was so powerful that the young journalists, fresh out of school, were too intimidated to speak. They couldn’t very well admit they’d come for clicks, chasing a sensational story about Stella.
“Ms. Shaw, they’re just here to take a photo and twist the story to get people to harass you online!” one student called out. The others quickly echoed in agreement.
‘I see.” Stella nodded. She looked to the law students. “How about it–any of you want a real internship opportunity?”
We do!” they replied eagerly, raising their hands.
The reporters glanced back at the students‘ bright, earnest eyes and sudden enthusiasm, and a wave of panic washed over them.
Mr. and Mrs. Ryker, for your actions today—I will be pressing charges to defend my reputation,” Stella said, her smile elegant and composed, as if time had never touched her. “Which student can get security for me?”
Here! I’m here!” A security guard stepped forward, straightening his hat and ooking apologetic.
Sorry, Ms. Shaw.”
It’s alright–just not a good look for the school,” she replied gently.
Stella looked at the students with a kind smile. “Trying to harass the family of a victim to derail legal proceedings is wrong. Don’t follow this example, everyone.”
“We won’t, Ms. Shaw!” the students chorused.
She turned back to the law students specifically. “I’ll speak to your department

“We will do our best, Ms. Shaw!” they promised.

Stella glanced faintly at the Ryker couple, still frozen in their bowed, submissive posture. Then she lifted her head, her bearing elegant and every movement exuding intellect and poise.
“See you all next week, students.”
“See you next week, Ms. Shaw!”
With that, she walked away calmly and unhurriedly.
The Rykers were stunned. She’s just leaving?
She acted like she hadn’t been affected at all, while they were left facing the security guard’s angry glare, treated like annoying troublemakers.
“Please leave,” the guard said firmly when they didn’t move.
Eric stumbled as he stood up, and a student nearby helped steady him. “This is a school–we abide by the law and help others. Please don’t bring these underhanded tactics here and poison the atmosphere.”
The students were angry, but they remained civil and respectful.
And as for you,” they turned to the reporters, “journalists should pursue the truth, not make up stories, fabricate facts, or incite online harassment to get views. That’s harmful–it ruins lives. Is that really why you got into this profession?”
The tabloid reporters, faced with the students‘ righteous anger, slunk away in embarrassment.
Eric never could have imagined that his well–planned scheme would backfire so badly. Not only did Stella escape unscathed, but they didn’t get a single chance to negotiate–they even got slapped with a massive lawsuit.
As soon as they got back to the Ryker house, the couple was beside themselves with worry, not knowing what to do.
