"None. Just a lot of people asking for my number."
She frowned slightly. "You gave them?"
He shook his head. "I'm taken. I don't give any girl false hope."She tilted her head, satisfied. "Wow, that's my guy."
Then she blew him a quick kiss.
Jasper was about to speak when the drill instructor arrived.
"Good morning, everyone. I'm Instructor Owen Rainer. I'll be leading your seven-day training. I hope we'll get along well. I promise you'll remember this forever."
Everyone suddenly felt sore all over.
"Attention."
"At ease."
"Eyes right."
...
"Rest for fifteen minutes."
By noon, everyone was sweating heavily.
"Nicole." Jasper opened a bottle of water and handed it to her.
"Thanks."
Jaron also gave a bottle to Amelia. The four sat under a tree together.
"Tired?" Jasper asked worriedly.
Nicole smiled. "Not tired. Just hot."
Jasper took a piece of paper from his pocket, folded it into a fan, and fanned her.
"You even brought this?" She was surprised.
"I wondered why you carried paper. That's why."
Jaron moved closer. "Share the wind. I'm melting."
"You're sweaty. Stay away from Nicole."
Before he could get near, Amelia grabbed his collar.
Rip.
Amelia and Jaron froze.
Everyone looked over.
"I'm sorry, I—"
"Amelia, you could get sued for this. Harassing an innocent guy. Serious offense."
The whole group burst out laughing.
Her face flushed. "I'll pay for it, okay?"
"What did you say?"
"I didn't mean it."
She usually pulled him around, but never this roughly.
Nicole took the fan from Jasper and handed it to Jaron. "Cover up. Go tell the instructor and change."
Jaron laughed. "This won't cover anything."
He stood up. "I'm going to change."
"Jaron, I'm so sorry."
