Tiffany hurried over with a soft smile, her voice sweet and gentle. "Jaron, we need to go practice now."
Nicole folded her arms and stared straight at him.
"Uh..."
"What's wrong?" Tiffany slipped her arm through his. "Jaron, won't you introduce your childhood friends to me?"
"I'll do it. You already know Jasper. This is Nicole, his girlfriend and my best friend."
Jaron looked at Amelia, and a strange restlessness mixed with guilt washed over him.
"This is Amelia, my childhood friend."
"Nice to meet you all. I'm Tiffany."
Amelia and the others smiled politely and nodded.
They left to practice right after.
"We'll do the old quartet version. Wait for me."
Nicole frowned. "Trying to split your focus? You might mess everything up."
"No way."
"Jaron, she's right. Just focus on one thing. Let's go." Tiffany pulled him away.
"He really left."
Amelia smiled lightly. "He can't abandon his girlfriend for us. You'll get used to it."
"Amelia, I'll never choose a guy over you. Never."
"Aren't you afraid Jasper will get jealous?"
"Good. I like him jealous." Jasper smiled tenderly.
When Amelia went to speak with their advisor, Jasper leaned close to Nicole and whispered, "I'm the jealous one, you know."
Nicole stared at him, confused.
I said I liked jealousy... and he said he was the jealous type.
Did he want me to... tease him?
The thought made her face and ears burn red.
"What are you thinking about?"
"You're being naughty."
Jasper watched her rush off, completely puzzled. What did she imagine? Why is she blushing?
A realization hit him, and his breath quickened. Is it what I think?
"Nicole, I—"
"Just practice."
Jasper nodded.
Amelia returned, thinking aloud. "What song should we play?"
