The Heiress With Seven Secret Identies (Stella Shaw) novel Chapter 441

"So? I'll just start my own company."

Jasper kissed her cheek, his eyes full of adoration. "I know you'll kill it."

"I didn't actually want to steal your father's project," Nicole admitted, "but he went too far. I wanted him to feel what it's like to have a sure thing snatched away at the last second."

"Good for you. You definitely deserve a reward for that."

He leaned in to kiss her again, but Nicole playfully covered his mouth.

"I have to go home," she said. "I need to keep the pressure on your family's business to make up for my father's losses."

He gave her cheek a gentle squeeze. "I won't hold it against you."

"Then get ready," she teased. "I'm coming for the Moore family next."

"I'm your man, aren't I?" Jasper countered with a grin. "Why not use that to your advantage?"

"Not yet, you aren't!"

"Feeling regretful already?" he called out as she turned and bolted for the door. Jasper just watched her go, a fond, devoted smile on his face.

As they stepped outside, the sight of a fleet of luxury cars lining the curb forced them to a halt.

Jasper instinctively moved to shield Nicole. She didn't say a word, her expression only tightening into a slight frown.

Felix climbed out of a Rolls-Royce, his face contorted with rage. "Nicole, I thought I made it clear to the Shaws that the engagement is off," he barked. "And yet, here you are, still clinging to my son."

"I'm the one clinging to her," Jasper interjected without a second thought.

"Jasper," Nicole murmured, but he didn't back down.

"I'm also the one who brought her here against her will," Jasper added.

Felix sputtered, "You—!"

He couldn't believe it. With so many eyes on them, his own son—the one he was most proud of—wasn't giving him an ounce of respect.

"If your son is the one being shameless, then I'm the one you should be lecturing," Jasper said. "Don't start by insulting someone else's daughter. It's pretty clear whose upbringing failed here, isn't it?"

Felix ground his teeth in fury. Jasper had never been the type to talk back. Whenever they disagreed, his son would usually just end the conversation by saying he wasn't in the right headspace to talk.

He blamed Nicole. Ever since Jasper fell for her, he had become obsessed. Even if Felix uttered a single word against her, Jasper would humiliate his own father rather than let Nicole feel the slightest bit of grievance.

"You damn fool," Felix hissed. "She's going to be the death of you. Do you have any idea how much effort the group poured into that smart home project? We were on the verge of signing the contract, and she snatched the agency rights away in a single night. This is the woman you're dying to marry? A woman who couldn't care less about the Moore family's interests?"

"Dad, I'm surprised you're even willing to admit that out loud," Jasper replied. "You were outperformed by a college student who hasn't even graduated yet. Keep your voice down—it's not exactly a point of pride."

Felix turned pale, looking as though he might faint at any moment.

Nicole looked at Jasper, her eyes shimmering with disbelief. Everyone said Jasper was the type to always maintain decorum and save face for others. This was the first time she had ever seen him tear someone down like this.

He looked... kind of incredible.
