Chapter 56 Jasmine’s Tragic Loss
“Jasmine is nothing but bad news.”
The moment the words left Elaine’s mouth, Ruby lunged at her. Within seconds, the two women were clawing at each other’s hair in the middle of the hospital hallway, right in front of everyone.
That was when the reporters swarmed in.
“Arthur, is the engagement between the Thorne and Harlow families officially off?”
“The Harlow family has liquidated almost everything to prop up Thorne Group. If you’re calling off the engagement now, what happens to the partnership?”
“Mrs. Harlow, Mrs. Thorne–can either of you explain what’s going on here?”
“Mr. Thorne, now that everyone knows your ex–fiancée is actually the genius songwriter Nirvana- someone completely out of your league–do you regret breaking things off?”
“How did it feel when you found out Stella was Nirvana?”
“Stella’s mother once saved your life, didn’t she? And yet your family spent years spreading rumors about her, attacking her. People online are calling the Thornes ungrateful. What do you have to say to that?”
Question after question landed like punches. The Thornes had nowhere to hide.
Elaine and Ruby were still going at it, neither willing to let go first.
“Enough. Both of you. Stop this right now.”
Arthur slammed his cane against the floor. The sharp thud cut through the chaos.
Ruby’s face was already bruised and swollen, her hair a tangled mess.
“You let go first.”
Elaine was in just as bad shape–blood streaming from her nose, but her grip still iron. “No, you let go first.”
Neither budged until the operating room doors swung open and a doctor stepped out. Only then did Rub release Elaine. Elaine finally let go too.
“Doctor. How is she? The baby–what about the baby?”
The moment the words left her mouth, the reporters and onlookers erupted.
“She was pregnant?”
“Pregnant and he still called off the engagement? What a piece of work.”
“Honestly, they deserve each other. Keep them both away from decent people.”
Chapter 56 Jasmine’s Tragic Loss
For the first time in his life, Arthur felt truly humiliated.
Like anyone could just say anything about his family now.

“I’m sorry. We couldn’t save the pregnancy. The patient lost a lot of blood. She’s weak and will need time
recover.”
Ruby snapped. She shoved through the crowd like a woman possessed, grabbed Silas by the collar, and yanked him close.
“How could you? That was your child too.”
“Jasmine grew up with you. She trusted you. And you did this? You’d do anything to get out of this engagement. We’ve lost everything–the Harlow family is ruined. We poured every last dollar into savin your company. And this is how you repay us?”
Ruby broke down, sobbing loudly, her cries echoing through the hallway.
Pandemonium.
Even as security escorted the reporters out, they kept shouting questions about the miscarriage, about Jasmine, about everything.
The Thornes said nothing.
That night, the internet exploded.
[UserA: These two families are a mess. Think about everything they did to get rid of Stella. And now Silas is probably desperate to dump Jasmine and crawl back. Too bad. Nirvana’s way out of his league.]
[UserB: Stay away from her! She deserves someone who actually respects her.]
[UserC: Mr. Thorne is definitely the biggest jerk of the year. No contest.]
[UserD: All that scheming and they ended up with nothing. Karma’s real. And don’t call him “Mr. Thorne“-that title’s self–appointed. His family’s just new money with old scandals.]
[UserE: He’s probably sick with regret. Nirvana’s incredible. They used to spread rumors that she was basically uneducated, some backwoods girl who couldn’t do anything. And now? She keeps proving them wrong, over and over.]
[UserF: Can we keep the focus on Derek though? He’s a trafficker. Let’s keep pushing for justice–for Nirvana and for every woman who’s been hurt.]
[UserG: Boycott everything connected to the Thornes. Ungrateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. They destroyed someone who grew up with them, and now their own unborn child? Who would ever trust this family again?]
What was supposed to be a celebration had left both families bleeding.
Stella watched it all unfold from a distance.
Things were playing out even better than she’d expected.
