Sebastian Thorne's towering frame stood in the doorway, the hallway lights casting him in shadow as a terrifying, murderous aura radiated from him. Sebastian didn't even spare him a second glance. With a single look from their boss, two highly trained assistants stepped forward, grabbing Caleb by his arms, covering his mouth, and dragging him out of sight without making a single unnecessary sound.

In three long strides, Sebastian was kneeling beside Evelyn. He pressed his fingers to her neck—her pulse was dangerously fast and chaotic. Her skin was burning up, her face flushed with an unnatural crimson, and the wound on her leg was still oozing blood onto the fabric.

Frowning deeply, he quickly shrugged off his suit jacket and carefully wrapped her in it before scooping her into his arms. Her body felt unnervingly light, making his heart sink.

“Mr. Thorne, what are your orders?” Xavier Stone asked quietly, glancing back at the restrained Caleb.

“Take him away and keep him locked down,” Sebastian ordered, his voice glacial. “Find out who ordered this and exactly what drug was used.” He paused, then added, “Make sure he doesn't die. He's useful to us.”

“Understood.”

Carrying Evelyn, Sebastian strode out of the lounge. He didn't return to the chaotic banquet hall, but instead took a private corridor that led straight to the hotel's executive elevators. They rode straight up to the penthouse suite that was permanently reserved under his name.

Gently placing her on the massive bed in the master bedroom, Sebastian quickly inspected her wound. It wasn't deep, but the flesh was torn and bleeding heavily. He grabbed the suite's first-aid kit and moved with expert efficiency, cleaning, disinfecting, and bandaging the cut with the precision of someone who had clearly undergone medical field training.

However, even after the wound was dealt with, Evelyn's condition didn't improve. Her body twitched involuntarily, her brows knitted together in agony. Her breathing was fast and scalding, her skin radiating a terrifying amount of heat as pained murmurs slipped past her lips.
