Chapter 416 Playing Tricks on Me 

She anxiously stared at Sean without blinking her eyes. 

After listening, Sean furrowed his brow and said, “Why are you panicking? Would I really not give it 

to you? As long as things work out, what I promised will be given to you.” 

“Isn’t it already worked out?” Vivi pursed her lips. “Boris is on the verge of death. While he’s unconscious these days, you can definitely take down the Lewis family. I’ve already helped you achieve your goal. You better give me the money quickly.” 

In fact, she was ready to leave. 

Even if Boris didn’t die, he would still end up in prison. The charges of running a casino and kidnapping combined would result in a minimum of ten years. 

With Sean around, she couldn’t possibly benefit from the Lewis family anymore. 

Instead of staying here, she wanted to make some money and run away.

Vivi felt uncertain and changed her mind when she faced those gloomy eyes. “Give me half of it first, then I’ll trust you.” 

“Fine.” Sean transferred half of the money to her, and a smile finally appeared on Vivi’s face. “When will you take action against the Lewis family?” 

“When the police have the results.” 

In truth, Vivi didn’t care about Sean or the Lewis family’s matters. Since she couldn’t gain anything from them, she asked these questions only to find out when she could get the remaining half of the money. 

She nodded and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll leave.”

Sean watched her figure receding into the distance, a sinister smile creeping across his face. 

Early the next morning, over a dozen police cars surrounded Steven’s gaming company building. 

They made a grand entrance, with dozens of police officers rushing into the office building. 

The employees who were working witnessed the scene, filled with extreme fear. 

A police officer asked the secretary, “Where is Steven?” 

The trembling secretary replied, “Mr. Howard went to the hospital to visit Mr. Lewis.” 

Boris was unconscious after the car accident, and it was the second day. The doctor who was supposed to perform the surgery hadn’t arrived yet. 

The police commanded. “Call him immediately and tell him to come back to the company!” 

The secretary had no choice but to comply. 

Half an hour later, Steven appeared at the company. 

His countenance appeared weary, with bloodshot eyes, indicating a lack of proper rest. Additionally, a hint of stubble had sprouted on his face. 

“Officers! Greetings! Welcome!” He seemed unsurprised by their presence. “It’s a pleasure to have you here. Quite a gathering today, right? So, would you prefer tea or coffee? I’ll have my secretaries prepare it for you!” 

“No need.” The police officer stated matter–of–factly. “We have received information suggesting that your gaming enterprise is involved in running a gambling establishment. We are here to conduct an investigation and gather evidence.” 

“This is an injustice!” Steven exclaimed, disregarding his appearance, “Whoever spread these baseless and defamatory rumors must be blind and devoid of conscience! I am an honest and law–abiding citizen! Who falsely accused me of such malicious intent? I’ll make sure to tear their mouth apart!” 

The police officers fell into silence. 

Steven, despite his handsome appearance, suddenly sounded like a virago. 

“Alright, enough crying. The information we possess indicates your involvement in illegal activities, such as operating a gambling establishment. We will be investigating your gaming enterprise,” the officer said sternly. 

Steven forcefully wiped his tears. “Fine! I conduct myself honorably and lawfully! If I haven’t done something, then I haven’t! Go ahead and investigate! Even if you search through my underpants, I haven’t committed any crimes!”

With his consent obtained, the police officers immediately sprang into action. 

However, after three hours had passed, they had exhausted all avenues of investigation without a trace of alleged online gambling. 

Once again, Steven began his howling. “Officers, have you been deceived? Who is responsible for this? Not only have they falsely accused an upstanding citizen like me, but they have also made you run around in circles! We must apprehend her and ensure she faces imprisonment! The police, having achieved no results, offered their solemn apologies before reluctantly departing

The police clarified. “There is no truth to such allegations. Our investigation has concluded that Steven’s gaming company operates in compliance with the law, and there are no instances of any illegal or disorderly conduct.” 

In the quiet living room, Sean watched this interview segment and forcefully kicked the coffee 

table. 

Frustrated and furious, he jumped up, cursing repeatedly. “Damn it! Damn it! Damn it!” 

How could they not find any evidence? 

He had personally witnessed that Steven’s games indeed included gambling elements just 

yesterday. 

This was maddening!

Suddenly, he vividly remembered that when Boris visited him yesterday, he knew that he was
