The confrontation had escalated fast. and now with the looks of things, there's going to be a more serious violence.
Mia clung tightly to Jaden, her small arms trembling. “I’m scared, Papa,” she whispered, burying her face in his chest.
Jaden wrapped one arm around her protectively and glanced at Selena and the others. His voice was calm, steady. “There’s an amusement park on level nine. Selena, Vane, Nora—take Mia there. Let me handle this.”
Selena hesitated. Her eyes searched his face, catching that familiar flicker of quiet fury behind his composed exterior. She didn’t want to leave, not with wolves circling.
But Vane and Nora understood immediately. The Divine Pill didn’t come from them. It was from Jaden’s Master’s lineage. The decision belonged to him.
More importantly, if they stayed, Williams would twist the narrative—accuse them of abandoning Xander, of being heartless and unfilial. That kind of moral blackmail was exactly the stunt the Verricks would pull.
Nora leaned in close to Jaden. “Make them regret it.”
Jaden gave a curt nod. “Go.”
As they turned to leave, Williams barked out, “Don’t you dare walk away from me!”
Vane shot him a cold look but said nothing. Selena paused, still reluctant, but Jaden touched her wrist.
“Go with them,” he said, not taking his eyes off Williams and Daniel. “I’ve got this.”
Reluctantly, Selena followed, her heels clicking against the polished floor as she disappeared into the distance with the others and Mia.
Williams stepped forward, seething. “Where do you think you’re going? You think you can just brush me off?”
