Isidora pushed harder than ever, imitating the arched brow and every arrogant phrase she had picked up from the women she used to serve.
“Well…” The Senior Elder frowned. The ones who had been backing Lucio no longer looked so convinced.
“Let’s vote…”
“Wait! Senior Elder, remember the connections we have. Are you really going to let yourself be intimidated by a novice Estingia?” Lucio’s mother took the opportunity to slip in her veiled blackmail.
“I’d like you to be very clear about what connections you mean,” Isidora said directly.
She knew perfectly well she was stepping into something strange.
The woman looked at her with open contempt.
“People you know. People who have already caused trouble for you. So you’d better not dare take this any further, or…” This time. Isidora was the one who raised her hand.
The slap landed straight across Lucio’s mother’s face, and the woman cried out, clutching her delicate cheek.
“Or what?” Isidora watched the woman bare her canines at her, but she had no choice but to swallow her anger.
“Isidora, how dare you, you damned bitch!” Lucio lost control, and another roar tore through the hall as chaos broke out all over again.
But Isidora lifted one hand in front of Blaze and stopped him.
Her green eyes looked at them as if she were looking at filth.
“I’ll take this as far as I damn well please, because you’re nothing but insects under my shoes,” she said, taking a few steps toward Lucio. “Those words, and every other one… I’m going to make you eat them.”
Her voice dropped into a dangerous tone.
Lucio glared at her with barely contained rage, but his eyes kept darting to the man behind her.
He would find a way to get this whore alone and give her what she deserved.
“You have until tomorrow to decide!” Isidora turned toward the Elders, who no longer knew how to keep order.
“But you should know that I’m easily offended too. I won’t supply my ingredient to this pack, and as a business partner, I’ll take the LookWood family formula and use it in another territory.”
“You can’t do that!” one of the Elders raised his voice.
“Then…. think carefully before you decide. Tick tock. Time is running.” Isidora left them with her ultimatum and walked to the table, taking the deed to the factory with her.
She would keep it herself, because she didn’t trust Efrain to stand firm. Not when he was now following in Blaze’s shadow.
The men watched that fire red hair pass by, and that soft white skin beneath the leather covering.
But the jealous aura surrounding her was enough to make them look away fast.

Chapter 117
It was incredible how power could change the lens through which people saw someone.

Lucio’s own lens was starting to warp as he watched Isidora leave with steady steps and a confidence she had never shown in front of him.
She had become an Estingia… She had really done it, and he had always wanted to marry one of those powerful women
Every man wanted, at the very least, to be taken as their lover. To feel the glory that came with them.
Lucio clenched his fists so hard he nearly broke his knuckles, even more so when the Elders announced they would deliberate and make their decision the next day.
“Son, what are we going to do? That bastard Efrain played us. How did he get the title, the drug, and that Estingia woman? Isn’t she the same…?”
“Yes, Mother. She’s the same fat woman they sent me to humiliate and throw out of the Tower,” Lucio confirmed in a whisper only the two of them could hear.
