ISIDORA

I asked the coachman to drop me off near the same section of the walls I had slipped out through.

The truth was, I still wanted to keep a low profile. I had already caused enough trouble by putting myself back in Stephanie’s sights.

I walked on with Blaze behind me, carrying our things.

As soon as I passed through the enormous iron gates, I spotted my dear Elessia pacing nearby.

“Isi…?!” Her eyes filled with tears as she ran toward us. “M-my lady…”

She corrected herself immediately.

It was obvious how badly she wanted to throw her arms around me, and I had missed her like crazy too, but we both held ourselves back and quickly moved away from the gates.

It seemed ridiculous, but the truth was, I was desperate to return to the safety of the Dark Estingia Fortress.

Once we reached the wooded area, Elessia finally clung tightly to my arm.

“Dora, I was worried sick,” she said, completely distressed. “You were gone much longer than you said you would be, and that idiot Arlene kept saying you’d probably died somewhere outside the pack!”

I snorted when I heard that, but my senses remained alert.

I was afraid Stephanie or someone else might ambush us, but we managed to reach Dark Estingia territory without any trouble.

“The only thing that kept me from losing my mind was knowing you had your big, strong slave with you…”

“Hey, you really don’t have much faith in me.” I looked at her, desperate to tell her everything.

“Well… it’s just that… you know, you’re still new at all this.”

“Ele…” I stopped just before crossing the bridge that led to the fortress and leaned closer to her. “We’re rich, Ele. I found a treasure, and now all three of us are rich.”

I blurted it out with excitement bubbling under my skin, but Elessia only stared at me as concern slowly took over her face..

“Oh, Goddess… did you hit your head during the trip?” She reached out to touch my temple, but I dragged her over to where Blaze stood.

“Show her.” I told him.

He slipped the bag containing everything we had taken on the expedition off his shoulder and dropped it onto the ground.

Then he crouched and pulled out another, smaller pouch.

“Look, look…” I urged Elessia, a conspiratorial smile spreading across my lips.

When she leaned down and Blaze opened the pouch for her. I enjoyed every expression that crossed her face.

Her eyes went so wide she looked like a fish gasping on dry land.
