Chapter 218
Chapter 213
ISIDORA
When I returned to the edge of the arena, I saw the last fight come to an end.
Only three of the New Moon Estingías had advanced, including Karla, the only one from our newly arrived group competing in that category.
I clenched my fists against the dull ache in my stomach, but the moment the shield came down, I started forward with determined steps.
“She still has enough strength to get back up?”
“That girl’s an idiot. She had the fight won and let it slip away.”
“Who knows what made her hesitate?”
“Bet she’s never killed anyone in her life.”
The whispers followed me, but I just pushed my way through those women, my eyes fixed on the platform above.
“The first round is ov…”
“WAIT!”
I roared before the warrior above could call an end to the day.
The arena suddenly fell silent as I crossed the drawbridge and stopped in the center of the platform.
“I lost, but I want to use my second chance to advance.”
The moment I said it, chaos erupted around me.
Almost everyone said I must have a death wish, that I was walking straight to my death.
“Are you certain, Lady Isidora?” the Matriarch’s voice thundered, silencing everyone.
“Yes, Matriarch. I’m certain.” I nodded, feeling the weight of her sharp gaze.
I could also feel that intense gaze I knew so well.
But this time, I didn’t search the crowd for him.
I wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
I wasn’t doing this just for him. I was doing it for myself too.
“Then it’s decided, and everyone here is a witness. Tomorrow, we’ll choose your opponent, and you’ll fight for

your final chance”
I let out a faint sigh at her answer.
I bowed slightly in thanks and left the arena with my chin held high.

The Full Moon Estingias looked me over like a piece of meat, mocking me because they didn’t see me as a worthy opponent.
“I thought Legna’s disciple would be different. She’s just an idiot looking for attention.”
“Sore loser.”
“I hope I get her. I’ll teach her a lesson she’ll never forget.”
I looked straight at the redhead who’d said it and met her threatening stare without flinching.
I wasn’t afraid of any of them.
I knew what I was capable of, but I’d trusted my own strength too much.
Not anymore. This time, nothing and no one would distract me from my goal.
I wanted to visit Mika, but Elessia told me Karla had taken her away with her slaves and asked us not to disturb them.
I knew exactly what they were doing.
The fastest way for an Estingia to heal was by taking strength from her slave.
“I know you and Blaze are angry with each other, but Dora, you need him right now so you can recover… I’m worried about what you’re planning tomorrow. You shouldn’t have been so impulsive…
Elessia spoke as she cleared away the dinner dishes.
I’d decided not to join anyone for dinner in the great hall. Besides, I felt awful.
“It’s the only way to make it to the palace,” I told her as I undressed, deciding to take a long bath even though I’d just finished eating.
“But why do you have to go there? We’re already doing fine here. I don’t want anything to happen to you…”
She suddenly took my hands. Hers were trembling.
Her eyes were wet with worry.
“You’ve changed so much, Dora. I know you love that man, but don’t make the same mistakes you made in the past…
“I’m doing this for myself, not Blaze. I want to get stronger too. I want to see the world and take you to visit the capital.”

I squeezed her hands and pulled her into a hug.
“I won’t die that easily. I didn’t make it this far just to stop halfway”
Her hands clung to my back, and I could feel how worried she was.
The only person who’d been by my side from the very beginning.

“You know I’ll always support you…” She pulled away and looked into my eyes. “But if you go tomorrow the way you are now… they’ll kill you, Dora. You’re hurt and weak. It’s hard for me to admit it… but you need him.”
I stayed quiet and simply nodded.
There was so much she wanted to say. I could see it in her eyes, every word right on the tip of her tongue.
Finally, she let out a defeated sigh.
“I think I was wrong to trust Blaze so quickly…” she warned me. “Don’t trust that man completely, Isidora. I don’t like the way he’s been acting.”
“Don’t worry. Everything will be fine.”
I finally said it because I wanted to end that uncomfortable conversation.
It wasn’t just my imagination. Blaze had been acting strange since we arrived.
He wasn’t in the room now, and I had no idea where he was in that enormous castle.
I got into the bath and washed with water that was almost ice-cold so I could stop thinking.
I came out wearing a thin, almost transparent nightgown that clung to the curves of my body, toned now from all my training.
My long hair hung wet and slightly tangled down my back, soaking the nightgown and making the thin fabric cling indecently to my bare ass.
I picked up a comb from the small table and stepped out onto the little terrace outside my room, high above the ground.
The icy mountain wind lashed my skin, and my breath fogged in front of me.
Even so, I swear I couldn’t feel how cold it was.
I began working the tangles out of my hair as I stared at the moon, half-hidden behind gray clouds heavy with snow.
The night was dark, and somehow, it felt melancholy.
A hand suddenly closed around the comb as I drew it over the top of my head.
