Chapter 215

ISIDORA

I stood at the mouth of the tunnel.

Today was the day I would fight for my chance to reach the Lycan King’s palace.

Winning here didn’t guarantee I’d be chosen in the capital, but at least it gave me a chance many Estingias wanted.

The howls from the fight echoed all around me as I tried to forget everything tormenting me and focus on the fight.

I felt someone behind me, and I knew it wasn’t Blaze. He’d already gone to the stands.

“Ele… enough with the crying. I told you…”

When I turned around, the words died in my throat.

A flash of white shone even in the darkness of the tunnel, and those dark eyes stared hard at me.

“Mentor… what are you doing here?”

“I came to watch you make me look like a fool.” Her voice was harsh as she stepped partly into the light.

“I knew Karla and Mikaela weren’t ready for this. I only sent them here to train. But you…” She stopped, and 1 shuddered beneath the crushing weight of her aura.

“I really had high hopes for you…”

“I haven’t lost yet. I’ll win my place back…”

“If you keep thinking with your pussy instead of your head, you won’t get anything back, you arrogant Estingia…”

Her voice was cold. She didn’t even need to raise it.

She moved a little closer, and it felt as if a hand had closed around my throat, cutting off my air.

“I won’t let you down this time…

“You’d better not, Isidora, because I won’t lift a finger to help you. And I swear if you lose again, don’t bother coming back to my greenhouse.”

Then she walked out of the tunnel, leaving me with that threat and causing a stir with her sudden appearance.

I stared at the ground, clenching my fists, determined to risk everything.

I didn’t want to let anyone down, but more than anything… I didn’t want to let myself down

Chapter 215

IN 55 youth

When I heard my name, I looked toward the arena, determined, and walked out to where two people were waiting for me.

The Estingia who’d said yesterday that she would tear me to pieces, and the Matriarch.

The Matriarch stood between us, and I was surprised she had come down from her high platform.

“This is New Moon Estingia Isidora’s challenge to a Full Moon…” She pointed at the arrogant warrior.

The woman stared at me as if I were already dead.

“I’m very curious to see how this ends…” The Matriarch glanced my way.

She said something to the other woman and then came over to me.

“I wish you the best of luck.”

But when I bowed slightly to thank her, she placed her hand on my shoulder, and a painful jolt of energy almost made me pull away.

The Matriarch’s iron grip held me in place.

It lasted barely a second, but it hurt like hell.

“You’ll thank me later…”

I almost missed those words beneath the shouting and cheering.

I wanted to look at her, but she was already walking past me and out of the arena.

What had she marked on my skin?

I couldn’t check without raising suspicion, but I could still feel a painful heat moving slowly through my

veins.

I hoped this woman hadn’t pulled some trick to put me at a disadvantage. I shouldn’t have let her touch me.

I looked up at my mentor in the stands and decided to trust the choice I’d made.

The protective shield began to rise, and one last time, I searched the crowd for those golden eyes.

This time, they were staring at me, right through me. But I was the one who looked away and focused on my opponent.

“Go ahead. Keep playing around with that brute and lose again because you’re pathetic. The same trick wonTM work this time.” My rival’s voice was trying to provoke me.

“Then I guess I’ll use other tricks.”

I took a fighting stance as I said it and drew my sword from its sheath.

I didn’t waste time showing off. I poured my aura straight into Sonya, and she began to vibrate.

The dark, rusted steel came alive, red lines spreading across it as my seal extended.

Fleurs-de-lis covered my entire hand and fingers, marking my skin.

“I see…

The woman smirked without a trace of fear and pulled out two daggers connected at the handles by a chain.

They looked dangerous too. Good weapons.

The horn suddenly blared, and the females in the stands began to howl.

That warrior attacked first.

She spun the chain through the air, and one of the daggers flew toward me at full speed.

I raised my sword and blocked the attack in midair. Silver and red sparks danced before my eyes.

But it was only a distraction.

In the blink of an eye, she was behind me, wrapping the chain around my body and driving the other dagger toward the back of my neck.

I used my quick footwork and slashed backward with my sword, but when the links touched my skin, it felt as if they were branding me with red-hot iron.

“Mnn…” I moaned before I could stop myself.

That brief hesitation was all she needed to drive her elbow into my temple.

The blade of her dagger missed my neck by only a few inches.

I threw myself to the ground and rolled, slipping free of her chains just before they closed around me.

I looked at my arm, where the chain had left a glowing mark.

Damn it, it hurt like hell. Blood poured from the cut her elbow had left at the end of my eyebrow.

“I see you’ve discovered what my weapon can do. Let’s just say I love branding pigs and fat bitches.

Her smug little laugh made me grind my teeth, but I learned from every attack.

Soon, I had to use Sonya’s ability.

When she least expected it, I attacked from the side, the blade of my sword moving fast. like a snake. I almost landed a killing blow, but she suddenly burst into white mist and I could barely see through it. Tlooked around carefully inside the shield, all my senses alert as blood dripped from several wounds.

Sonya vibrated in my hand. She was restless, and I could feel a presence stalking me.

Before I could even react, my sword saved my life again.

A massive Estingia wolf lunged at me from behind, her jaws wide open and aimed straight at my head.

I turned as if everything were happening in slow motion, as if I were staring death in the face.

I didn’t have time to activate my escape ability or any of my other powers.

But at the last second, Sonya changed again, her blade taking on a shape I’d never seen before.
