The Last Lycan King Is My Slave novel Chapter 243

You’re Our Last Hope.

ISIDORA

I whispered as I got to my feet and looked at the statue above the tomb.

It was her. I knew it was her: And the baby in her arms had to be the son who’d never been born.

I’d seen it in the vision Sonya had shown me.

Valezka had been pregnant, and I believed the king had murdered her and her child.

“Help me put an end to this… I’m desperate…”

I touched her cold marble feet. The knot in my throat tightened. I was lost.

With every second I wasted, I felt Blaze slipping farther away from me.

Suddenly, Sonya started vibrating and heating up until she burned my fingers through the leather.

I looked at her, trying to figure out what she wanted.

“Look at the statue’s free hand. It looks like she’s supposed to be holding something. I think she needs her sword,” Varka said

I looked at the half-closed fingers of the statue’s outstretched hand.

Without hesitating, I lifted my sword and slid the leather-wrapped hilt between those rigid fingers. It fit perfectly.

A flash made me stumble back.

Before my eyes, the dull blade became sharp and new, filled with the Estingia energy that lived inside it.

Dark mist began filling the entire chamber, and suddenly, all my senses sharpened.

I felt many presences around me, but one was all too familiar. It was as if it had been with me every time I wielded Sonya.

“At last, you’re here… my little Estingia.”

I spun around, instantly on guard, my brow furrowed and my heart pounding like crazy.

The mist cleared a little, and Valezka was standing right in front of me.

“Valezka… How?”

“I left some of my remaining life force inside Sonya. She bears my Estingia wolf’s name and carries what’s left of who I on was…”

This was insane.

The ghost of a woman who’d died long ago was staring at me with gentle eyes and speaking as if she were really here.

“Your journal…” I showed her the pages I was still holding.

“You were meant to find it. Everything King Vhaelor’s mother prepared has finally found its way to the chosen woman.”

I didn’t understand any of it… and the mist around me was moving strangely.

“The woman in the painting?”

“Yes. She was an Estingia who gave up her power. She didn’t get very far as a warrior, but she had the strange gift of hearing death in her dreams,” Valezka answered.

“Luckily, she followed every instruction we gave her. She built all this in secret so that when Sonya finally found the right person, they could make it here.”

“But why me… What do you want from me?”

“What we want from you, Isidora.”

The moment she said we, the mist cleared, and I saw them.

I was surrounded by translucent shadows, the spirits of women. The same women depicted in those tapestries.

The same women who’d been murdered by mates who’d lost their minds.

And she was there too. The queen who’d left all these clues behind. My mate’s mother.

She looked at me with a gentle, hopeful smile.

“You have to save my Vhaelor,” she whispered in my mind, and hearing his name made the knot in my throat almost unbearable.

“We want you to be the one who breaks this cycle of suffering,” Valezka said.

“Each of us believed we were enough. That our love could get us through anything… but it couldn’t.”

“But I… I don’t know… I don’t know how to do it, Valezka. Your clues haven’t gotten me anywhere. I don’t even know where the lycan cemetery is. I’m going to lose him!”

Desperate tears finally spilled down my cheeks.

I stepped closer to her as if I could really touch her.

“I’m going to lose him the way you lost your mate… What makes me different from the rest of you? Why would you bet everything on me?!”

“The symbol on your seal. The red fleur-de-lis only Maevra carried. It’s the greatest hope we’ve had in centuries…”-

She was right… I had that Estingia mark too.

“Then I’m… like her?”

“No, Isidora. You’re nothing like her. You’re loyal and good. You’re everything she should’ve been… You just have to prove i to Liora.”

That sounded absurd… So I was supposed to play the part of that bitch of a sister?

“I almost succeeded, but I failed at the very last moment because I/wasn’t willing to give up everything for us… not my son.

She lowered her eyes, and I noticed her rounded belly, just as it had been when she died.

“Liora wants everything that was taken from her. By the time I tried to escape that cemetery, it was already too late for me. For us…”
