Chapter 41
ISIDORA
That deep, dominant voice slid into my thoughts, making me shiver.
I curled my lip, dying to throw a you should’ve kept the muzzle on instead> at him.

I turned to face him, ready to act tough, only to end up like an idiot all over again, hypnotized by my slave’s savage beauty.
Goddess, it should’ve been a sin to look that striking. This man was going to get me into trouble.
We stood there staring at each other, only a breath away from that sinful mouth. My lips tingled at the memory of that scorching kiss, and I was dying to do it again.
If I rose up just a little… I could taste that sweetness again.
I swallowed and shook my head, trying to break free from this male’s spell.
“Let’s go to the room,” I whispered, turning my face away in a stiff, unnatural motion.
“Yes… My Lady…” Even that title sounded faintly mocking coming from him.
Who was the master here?
I kept asking myself why Blaze had agreed to all this. Why had he stayed by my side? Was he really running from something horrible beyond these walls?
My mind kept drifting as my feet followed the path I’d already memorized.
I clutched my heavy cloak closed, hiding the heated marks he’d left on my body.
His shadow stayed at my back… silent, protective, matching every step I took, taking over my whole world.
I lowered my gaze and slowed down, and even though I knew I shouldn’t say it, there in that dark hallway, alone with him, the words slipped out.
“Thank you… Thank you for saving us despite the consequences. And for accepting this arrangement with me too… I…
My hand was caught so suddenly my body spun, and a second later my back met the stone wall.
Before I could react, his fingers tipped up my chin and a possessive mouth came down on mine.
His body drove me deeper into the darkness, surrounding me in heat, pinning me against him.
My shocked eyes fluttered shut as that delicious kiss stole the air from my lungs.

My lips had learned from him what a real kiss was… one full of passion and hunger, lust and sin….
Even if it was only the aphrodisiacs, I wanted to fool myself for once and pretend Blaze really could want a female like me.
My hands tightened on his strong arms as I rose onto my toes, while his hands slipped inside my cloak and his tongue tangled with mine.
My breathing turned ragged, and the heat between us flared back to life.
But he always had the last word, and just like he’d pushed me to the brink, he was the one who finally let up.

I could feel his eyes fixed on the crown of my red hair, but I didn’t dare look him in the eyes… I don’t even know why…
“And don’t kiss me or touch me again unless I give you permission…” I added in a whisper, turning my face aside in a clear sign for him to step away.
He said nothing, and what felt like hours crawled by… I never knew what was going on inside his head.
In the end, Blaze stepped back, and suddenly the hallway felt so cold… so empty and dark.
“I understand. Until you ask it of me, My Lady, I won’t touch you again…”
I lifted my head to his serious face, heard the edge in his words, and just like that, he was the same stern, unreadable slave again.
I nodded past the knot in my throat and started walking again, pretending to have a strength I didn’t feel.
I’d ruined the moment. I knew it. But I preferred this Blaze… the quiet one, the closed-off one, the intimidating one who kept his own motives and schemes buried.
Because the Blaze who kisses me, who touches me, who smiles in that way that makes my chest tremble… that’s the most dangerous one of all.
I know I’m going to misread him. I know I’m going to fall for him, and I can’t afford that ever again.
Blaze will leave one day, and I need to become someone strong… someone who can protect my body, but above all, my soul.
His footsteps trailed behind mine through the deserted halls at this hour.
I never imagined the day would come when his presence would feel as essential to me as breathing.
And I never imagined the secrets this man was hiding… secrets that bound us together in a way that would change my whole life… Forever.
