Chapter 72
¡SIDORA
43
My eyes went wide when I saw the huge, rough-looking man charging in with a wild boar slung across his shoulders.
He grabbed the animal by the legs and hurled it through the air before the two remaining men could even react.
The boar slammed into the merchant leader, sending him crashing through a table. The other man tried to run, but the crowd cut him off.
Suddenly, they were brave.
But all my attention was on the wild blond driving his fist into one man’s face. The man screamed as his nose broke witha sickening crack.
The fight was over almost before it started, leaving three defeated men on the ground.
“We only wanted to rent the stall! We didn’t know it belonged to her!”
“SHUT UP!” that voice I would recognize anywhere roared at the merchant, who was shaking beneath the enormous boar he couldn’t shove off.
“And you, pack of cowards, I’ll make every one of you answer for this. Don’t come asking me for favors again, you ungrateful bastards!” he snarled at the crowd, who lowered their heads in shame. “Go on. Get back to whatever useless things you were doing!”
Emotion roared inside my chest as his steps came toward me.
I almost burst into tears when I saw his fierce face, but it softened the second he looked at us.
“Blaze…” His name slipped out low, squeezed from my tight throat.
“My princesses, I’m sorry. I’m sorry I took so long.” He bent over us despite the dirt on his clothes and the sweat on his body. His huge arms wrapped around us, lifting me in one motion with the little girl between us.
“Daddy, I was scared! Those bad men wanted to do something to Mommy!” Amber threw her arms around his neck and sobbed like she had just found an anchor.
I stood there in front of him, silent, thinking about how real all of this felt… Was this really my fantasy?
“It’s okay, baby. Don’t cry or you’ll break your father’s heart. Everything’s fine. I’ll always protect you both…” He kissed Amber’s head as he took her from my arms.
His golden eyes locked on mine, and I could’ve sworn they were real.
“Blaze..” I said his name again, anxious, glancing at those bandits lying on the ground, groaning and unable to move, then back at this whole insane situation.
I opened my mouth and looked at him again, not knowing whether to ask him straight out.
Did you fall into the same illusion too?
“Come on, my female. Let’s go inside.” He held Amber with one arm and took my hand with the other, leading me into the little stall that had been broken into.
He walked past the two men trembling on the ground, but they didn’t dare move without Blaze’s order.

Chapter 72
My murderous stare landed again on the merchant leader, who was looking at my slave in pure terror
Again, that strange feeling passed through my head, like I had seen that face before.
But I forgot all of it when we stepped into the small wooden stall.
It was only one room, and luckily, there was just a little mess on the shelves, but nothing broken.
The rustic wood-burning stove took up most of the space, and off to one side, there was a sofa with a little table, a small resting area.
“Amber, baby, go check if Mr. Carrots and your chicks are all right. Go on.” He set her down and wiped her little face with a clean piece of his shirt sleeve.
“But…” She hesitated, looking at me and then outside.
