In the dead of night, a car door slammed outside Carter Manor. Galen strode toward the main house, carrying a woman securely in his arms.
The living room lights were still on, though the staff had already retired.
Hearing the commotion, the butler emerged, slipping on his glasses. He immediately spotted Livia in Galen's arms. Before he could even register her condition, Galen shot him a lethal glare.
"Look away, unless you want to lose those eyes."
The butler's hand froze on his glasses. Galen ignored him, carrying Livia straight up the stairs.
Hearing the bedroom door get kicked open and then violently slammed shut, the butler let out a helpless sigh and shook his head.
What a total mess.
The night deepened. Intermittent whimpers echoed from the unlit bedroom, gradually melting into the darkness. Like a man savoring a rich, intoxicating wine, Galen lost himself in her.
By the time the horizon turned a pale, hazy gray, Galen tightened his grip on the woman he had exhausted into unconsciousness. He lowered his head, pressing a kiss to her sweat-dampened forehead, before finally rolling out of bed and heading to the shower.
He emerged looking completely refreshed, showing no signs of having been awake all night.
Once in the car, he dove straight into work, instructing his assistant to keep a close eye on several business partnerships. By the time they arrived at the hospital, he had handled most of his tasks.
Just before stepping out of the vehicle, he glanced at his assistant. "List that townhouse Livia has across town for sale."
He had lied to her. The locks on that house hadn't been changed; keeping it around was just a nuisance.
Pushing the car door open, he added, "Freeze the card where her dividends from The Carter Group are deposited. Leave only her basic salary account. Once she's out of cash, she won't have the energy to cause so much trouble."
"And that guy of hers. Send some men over to his place to beat the hell out of him."
