The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 514

None of the medical staff stepped forward to interrupt the family of three's brief parting.

Aside from Dr. Holt, who had only arrived a few days ago, everyone else had been by Abacus's side since he was born. They had developed a deep, protective bond with the little boy.

They couldn't exactly call him the bravest child in the world, as there were countless other suffering children out there who hadn't even made it to his age.

But Abacus was the one they had watched grow up day by day, and their affection for him was no less than what they felt for their own children.

They had witnessed every ounce of his pain, and their hearts ached for him.

If bystanders like them felt such unbearable heartache, it was unimaginable what his parents were going through.

Before witnessing Petty's fierce maternal love, they had already been deeply moved by Franco's silent, overwhelming devotion as a father. It made them understand just how incredibly difficult this journey had been for the family.

As if Abacus understood Petty's words, his little palm gently rubbed her cheek through the hazmat suit. He struggled to lift his head, clearly trying to touch her.

Petty reacted instantly, lowering her head to rest against his forehead. Then came the child's sweet, milky voice. "Mama... Papa..."

He turned his head and reached out his little hand.

Franco gently enveloped those tiny, fragile fingers in his palm. Looking deep into his son's eyes, he murmured, "Papa and Mama are going to wait right here for you. There are so many people waiting for you to get better and come back safely."

His palm pressed against his mother's cheek, and his fingers were held safely in his father's hand.

Two different temperatures brought the same surge of comforting warmth, flowing from his little hands straight into his heart. Abacus seemed to half-understand, beaming happily at them both.

Petty pulled out a red Celtic knot that had been sterilized and sealed in a medical-grade sterile bag.

She held the knot up for Abacus to see. "This is a Celtic knot your Uncle Hans learned to tie just for you. He said it's a Trinity Knot, and it's meant to keep our baby safe and protected."

Hans, despite being incredibly clumsy, had finally mastered tying the intricate knot. The moment he heard Abacus was starting his treatment, he immediately hopped on a flight to The Abbey of Saint Jude. He tied the Trinity Knot on the plane and then took it straight to The Hall of Deliverance to pray for a blessing.

He'd heard that prayers made at The Hall of Deliverance were the most miraculous.

He had stayed there, praying through the entire night.
