Galen slammed the door to the chairman's office at The White Group open, striding straight for the desk without so much as a greeting.

"Are you out of your mind? Turning yourself in? That blast in the suburbs must have knocked your screws loose!"

He planted his hands on his hips, practically vibrating with rage.

Franco’s public confession, posted online like a royal edict of self-criticism, had the entire internet in an absolute uproar.

His first instinct had been to call, but he quickly realized yelling at him over the phone wouldn't be nearly as satisfying as doing it to his face. So, he had rushed over without a second's delay.

He was going to knock some sense into Franco today if it killed him.

Yet the man sitting in the executive chair was simply looking down, calmly flipping through his documents as if the world outside wasn't completely falling apart.

In the distance, the wailing of police sirens echoed through the city streets, an unsettling sound that set Galen on edge.

He slammed a palm onto the desk. "How do you have the mood to read reports? The cops are coming for you!"

Franco finished reviewing the last page, closed the folder, and handed it to Jay, who stood loyally at his side. Only then did he look up at the furious man before him. "What are you doing here?"

Galen nearly choked on his own breath. "Is this really the time for that question?"

He had been standing here for an eternity, and the guy hadn't even noticed him.

But that was just how Franco was. Galen was used to it by now.

Exhaling sharply, he managed to reign in a fraction of his temper. "Let me ask you this. Why turn yourself in? As for covering up for Laura, if neither of us said a word, who would have ever known?"

Besides, his written confession explicitly stated that he did it to stall for time and save his and Petty's baby. The bewildered public was still trying to untangle the timeline, utterly confused as to when Franco and Petty even had a child. And wasn't Laura supposed to be his great lost love? When did she become nothing more than a pawn used to save a baby?
