The Last Time I Cried Your Name novel Chapter 562

He answered the call.

It was from the security checkpoint at the estate's main gate.

"What's wrong?"

For the first time ever, the guards didn't immediately report the situation. Jay had to prompt them.

"Jay, someone dressed as Santa Claus just drove up."

"What?"

The bodyguard on the line hesitated. "It's..."

Hearing the next word, Jay's eyes went wide with shock.

He instinctively glanced over at Franco.

Always fiercely observant, Franco immediately caught the look and locked eyes with him.

"What is it?"

Franco didn't know who was on the phone. Jay had barely spoken a few words, offering no clues, but that split-second glance meant whatever it was directly involved him.

Jay hung up. For the first time in his life, the fiercely loyal subordinate kept his boss in suspense.

"You'll see in a minute."

Franco gave him a dark, probing look. Had the man lost his mind?

Once Manley finished eating, Franco wiped the boy's face with a wet wipe and scooped him up into his arms. Having finished his own meal, he carried the toddler into the living room.

The Christmas tree was glowing with colorful lights, looking infinitely more magical at night. Franco had ordered the staff to set the lights to a steady glow so the flashing wouldn't strain the boy's eyes.

Manley wriggled restlessly against Franco's chest. "Down! Down!"

Franco set him down. General ambled over from across the room. After entertaining the boy all day, even a dog with endless stamina was ready to crash.

Suddenly, the low rumble of a car engine echoed from outside.

General's ears perked up instantly.

The vehicle parked in the driveway, followed by the heavy thud of a car door closing.

The very next second, the dog's head snapped up, eyes bright, its tail wagging furiously!

"Woof!"

"Doggie!" Manley's little legs pumped as he chased after the dog toward the front entrance.

The snow outside hadn't fully melted, and worried the boy might slip if he ran out, Franco strode quickly after him.

A hunched Santa Claus carrying a massive sack trudged up to the front door.

In that instant, an explosive silence obliterated the world around Franco.
