The Luna Never Heard novel Chapter 13

All because my fiveyearold twin daughters had upset my Alpha mate’s first love, he sent the girls to The Obedience Denthe most brutal correctional camp in the entire pack.

The instructors from The Obedience Den followed my Alpha’s command and stormed into the packhouse, dragging my girls away by force. My daughters clung to the door, sobbing and screaming for their father.

I fell to my knees, begging.

They’re only five years oldthey’re just pups! Sending them there will kill them! I’m their motherif anyone

should be punished, it’s me! I’m the one who failed to teach them properly!

But Blake only stood there, his arm wrapped around his first love, Hannah, watching us with cold

indifference.

If you hadn’t spoiled them rotten, they wouldn’t have grown up so insolent! I’m their fatherif you can’t

discipline them, then I will! Do you really think I’d harm my own blood?

The next day, when Sierra and I arrived at The Obedience Den, we were met with the sight of my daughters-

their small bodies covered in bruises, their tiny chests still.

Gone.

And my mate? He was celebrating with the pack, rejoicing that his sweet Hannah was now pregnant with his

child.

My vision blurred as I turned to Sierra, my voice hollow.

They’re dead. I have nothing left. Pleasejust let me go. I don’t want anything to do with your brother

anymore.

By the time they were brought to the werewolf hospital, it was already too late. They didn’t even make it to the emergency roomjust straight to the morgue.

Sierra, my mate’s sister’s eyes filled with pity, but she still tried to comfort me, her voice soft.

It’s going to be okay. You have me and Grandpa on your side. This time, my brother went too farI’ll make

sure he apologizes. You two can still-

Before she could finish, I shoved my phone into her hands. On the screen was a post Blake had made just

two hours ago.

Before you even came to this world, your mother and I were already loving you.

Beneath it was an ultrasound scanclear as day.

Hannah Marsh. Six weeks pregnant.

Hannah MarshBlake’s first love.

Sierra’s voice died in her throat. After a long pause, anger twisted her features.

I’m calling my brother right now. I swear, we will make this right-

I let out a bitter laugh and dialed Blake’s number myself. The moment the call connected, his irritated voice

crackled through.

What now? Are you going to cry about the girls being mistreatedat The Obedience Den again? My daughtersthe Alpha heirs of the White Moon Packwho would dare lay a finger on them? Stop playing the victim. I sent them there to learn discipline, to prepare them for leading the pack one day. Must you harass

me with these endless calls?

A pause. Then, with venom-

Lena, you disgust me.

He hung up before I could utter a word.

The phone had been on speaker. Every syllable, every cruel inflection, had reached Sierra’s ears.

Her face paled. Her lips trembled, but no words came outas if she no longer knew how to console me.

I forced a smile, but tears streamed down my face like falling stars.

Please. I have nothing left. Justlet me go. I can’t take this anymore.

Before Sierra could respond, two werewolf detectives approached us.

Are you the family of the deceased? The staff at The Obedience Den have been detained. We’ll need your cooperation in the investigation.

In the imprisonment area I saw themthe socalled instructors who had torn my daughters from our home.

Something inside me shattered.

A scream tore from my throat as I lunged at them, claws unsheathed, my grief a wildfire.

You monsters! You heartless beasts! They were five years old! How could you?! HOW DARE YOU?!

The detectives immediately restrained me, and Sierra wrapped her arms around my shaking body.

Lena, pleaseyou have to stay strong. You’ll get justice for what you’ve been through. I swear, they will pay for what they’ve done!

The instructors, cowering in the corner, had the nerve to sneer.

Maybe if you’d raised them better, this wouldn’t have happened.

That’s just how The Obedience Den works. You have to break them to mold them. Who knew your pups were

so weak? Pathetic.

My hands trembled with rage. I wanted to rip them apartto make them suffer the way my daughters had.

Then, a metallic tang flooded my mouth.

I coughed violentlyblood splattering onto the floorbefore darkness swallowed me whole.

When I woke, I was back in the packhouse. Sierra sat at my bedside, her eyes redrimmed.

Lenayou’re awake. Don’t worrywe’ve taken care of everything with the detectives. Those bastards won’t escape justice.

I stared blankly at the ceiling, my soul hollowed out.

Pleasejust let me go. There’s nothing left for me here.
