Chapter 133
We lock eyes.
Mine narrow.
His peel from me slow, then focus on Ellie I can hear that smile in that ‘gentle’ voice he only uses with her.
I straighten and step away before anyone opens the door and catches me lurking like an idiot.
He’s the one she wanted to see anyways.
The next day, I see her in the hallway.
She’s pale. That’s the first thing I notice. Not the dress, not the way Lucas hovers at her side like a guard dog with anxiety issues, but the fact that she looks… washed out.
I had…no clue what was happening, but she look like she wasn’t eating. Just after a day.
One hand presses to her temple as she walks. Her steps are careful, measured, like the floor might tilt if she moves too fast.
She stumbles once.
Lucas catches her instantly.
I grip the strap of my bag until my knuckles go white.
If I open my mouth, it will turn into something sharp, and she doesn’t need sharp right now.
So I do the only thing I can without starting a war.
I leave medicine and bottle of water in her locker.
No note. No name.
I don’t watch her find it.
す
The day after that… it’s worse.
And no. I’m not stalking. I just happen to see her.
