The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 159

Ellie POV

I wake up in a bed that is more from a dream then reality.

Before opening my eyes I already know it’s all wrong-The sheets too soft. The room is too large. Even the air smells expensive, like polished wood and something faintly floral that probably costs more than my entire monthly grocery bill.

For a few seconds I just lie there. Soon the maid will come in, offer to help change, dress me, usually with tea. The bells below will ding as servants tend to the waking members of my…family.

Because I am in Dominic’s house.

No, wait.

I am in my house.

Because I somehow managed to become his fiancée.

Again.

Yippee.

I press my palms into my eyes and groan softly.

Then last night play’s over my eyes like a movie. His groan and hot breath in my ear, hand sliding down my hip.

My legs press together tight, a heat between them fluttering.

I gasp, looking down at at myself.

Don’t you DARE get turned-

A knock sounds at the door.

I nearly jump at my skin with a yelp, panic flickering before I remember I technically live here now.

“Ah, right. Come in,” I call, already pressing the sheets flat.

A maid enters with a tray of tea and a polite smile. She does not look at me the way I remember her. Younger now seeing as Dominic and I somehow endedup together before we did in my past life.

That thought made me pinch the bridge of my nose.

“Good morning, Miss Ellie.” She eyed my sigh. “Are you feeling well?”

I almost tell her she does not have to do that. The formality. But correcting her would make it awkward.

“Morning,” I mumble. “And yes, I’m fine, thank you. Just…a big change.”

“I can imagine.” She giggles as she sets everything down carefully. When she straightens, I finally remember her name.

Clata.

She used to sneak extra biscuits to the staff when Dominic’s mother was not looking. She once helped me fix a ripped hem before a formal dinner when Vivian ripped it. She was always sweet like that.

“You look well, Clara,” I say automatically.

She pauses.

Her brows knit slightly.

My stomach drops.

I already know what she wants to ask but can’t. Because here, we’ve never met.

I force a smile over my mistake. “I heard Dominic mention your name. You know how loud this house is with such thin walls. Hope I didn’t scare you.”

She studies me for half a second too long, then smiles again. “Of course. Sorry for the display ma’am. Would you like some help dressing?”

I know if I send her away she’ll just keep asking me everyday until I do. And to be honest, the only nice thing out of this WAS not dressing yourself.

Seriously, I didn’t have to match anything, do my hair or makeup.
