Chapter 325
Dominic’s POV
My wolf was furious. He wanted blood. He wanted revenge. And most of all, he wanted me to suffer for what I had done.
“You left her,” he kept saying. “You abandoned our mate… For her.”
I gritted my teeth and pushed him down harder. He didn’t understand. He couldn’t understand. All he knew was that our mate was in danger and I’d walked away with Vivian instead.
But I hadn’t had a choice. If I’d chosen Ellie, they would have slit Vivian’s throat right there in front of us. At least this way, both of them were still alive. At least this way, I had a chance to save them both.
I just hoped Ellie would understand that when I found her.
If I found her.
My chest tightened at the thought. No. I would find her. I had to.
Finally, after hours of running, the warehouse came into view. It looked exactly as it had last night- dilapidated, half-collapsed, with vines crawling up the old brick walls. I slowed to a stop at the edge of the clearing and scanned the area.
All was quiet, but that didn’t mean we were alone.
I gestured for my warriors to spread out and search the perimeter. They moved silently, disappearing into the trees. My Beta stayed close as I walked toward the entrance.
The door was still hanging off its hinges from where I’d broken through. I stepped inside and looked around.
Empty.
The chair where Vivian had been tied was knocked over on its side. There were scuff marks on the floor, dried blood in a few spots. But no Ellie. No rogues.
“Alpha,” one of my men called from the doorway. “We’ve got tracks heading north. But they’re faint. Looks
r like they tried to cover them.”
I stood and walked over. He pointed to the ground just outside the entrance. I could see the faintly disturbed earth, branches laid over footprints, leaves scattered to hide the trail. They’d done a decent job, but not good enough.
“Follow it,” I ordered. “See where it leads.”
He motioned to two of the warriors, and they took off into the trees. The rest of us stayed behind to search the warehouse more thoroughly.
