The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 353

Chapter 353

Dominic’s POV

The rogue was locked in the cells beneath the pack house, his wrists bound with heavy iron chains that left angry red marks on his skin. He had been down there for two days, and I had let him stew in silence until now.

My Beta was quiet beside me as we descended the stairs. The air was damp and cold down here, but the rogue’s scent filled the space. Sweat and dirt and a healthy dose of fear.

Good. The fear was what we wanted. Hence keeping him locked up for days in a dark cell, not knowing when or if he would be released-or if he might wind up like his compatriots, incinerated into ashes and dumped in the ground.

The rogue looked up when we entered. His eyes were wild, darting between me and my Beta like he was trying to figure out which of us was more dangerous.

“You’re going to tell me everything,” I said.

The rogue spat on the floor. “What’s to tell?”

I crossed my arms. “You were with the rogues who kidnapped the girl, weren’t you?”

There was a slight flicker in his expression when I said that, which told me all I needed to know.

“Is it true?” I asked. “Did Vivian come to you? Did she tell you to do it?”

His jaw clenched, but he didn’t deny it.

My stomach tightened. I’d spent two days telling myself that Vivian wouldn’t do something like that; I had spent all this time going over everything I knew about her in my head, trying to come up with some reasons to trust her.

In the end, I had come up short.

“What did she say to you?” I asked.

The rogue laughed. It was bitter and harsh, echoing off the stone walls.

“Aren’t you the Alpha?” he asked. “I thought you were supposed to know the ins and outs of your: pack. But this woman lives in your house and you don’t even know what she’s up to.”

“How do you know she lives in my house?”

He shrugged. Wrinkled his nose. “The bitch’s scent is all over the place.”

Anger began to curl in my chest at his indignant tone. “Talk,” I growled, stepping closer. Behind me, my Beta snarled dangerously. “I’m tired of playing games.”
