The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 43

Dominic.

And he looks… awful. Exhausted in a way that doesn’t fit him at all. His hair is tousled like he’d been dragging his hands through it, and for once, he isn’t holding court like the center of the universe.

Marcus and Tyler just walking up, waving an uneasy hello.

My feet move back instinctively, slipping behind the wall before he can see me.

I don’t want a repeat of earlier. Not after he stormed out of the seminar like it physically hurt him to watch Lucas mark me.

But… curiosity is a disease, and apparently I’m already infected, because I peek anyway.

Vivian is there, perched next to Dominic like she thinks someone might steal her seat if she shifts an inch.

She’s laughing loudly, too loudly, and leaning into him every chance she gets. Like she’s trying to hard to cheer him up.

He barely reacts.

Marcus and Tyler are trying to liven things up, nudging Vivian closer, cracking jokes loud enough for the whole courtyard to hear.

give her one!”

“She’s the only girl in the entire school without a mark!” Marcus laughs. “Dom, come on-

“Seriously,” Tyler adds. “She’s earned it. She did stay by your side through that mess!”

Vivian giggles, cheeks pink. She tucks a strand of hair behind her ear. “Well… I mean… only if Dominic

wants to.”

My stomach twists, not with jealousy, just… secondhand embarrassment. It feels so force.

He isn’t jumping at it.

Which confuses me.

Dom likes Vivian. Loves her even. So why wouldn’t he smirk and tease and just mark her?

Instead, Dominic’s response cuts through the courtyard like a blade.

“Drop it.”
