The Luna Queen's Rebirth (Ellie and Dominic) novel Chapter 88

Chapter 88

Ellie POV

The door slams shut behind me.

Metal on metal. Loud. Final.

“You assholes!” I snarled slamming a hand on the door.

It had been late, my class ending deep into the night then I want. There was a chill in the air, enough to see my breath when suddenly I was swiped from the path and thrown into a dark the gym storage unit.

Recognizing those laughs. Dominc’s friends.

I react on instinct, spinning, throwing my shoulder into the door, fingers scrabbling for the handle. The

door doesn’t even rattle.

“Seriously?” I hiss, bracing my palm flatl.

The closet is dim, lit only by a single emergency light pulsing low and tired above the shelves. Concrete walls sweat with the chill of night, the air smelling faintly of dust, rubber mats, and old chalk.

I pull back, breath sharp, already irritated:

This is not happening. Ugh, why?!

I try the handle again. Nothing.

I swallow, forcing myself to slow down. Panicking won’t help. This is just a room.

Then a voice comes from the shadows.

I nearly jump ou my skin.

It’s dry. Calm. Amused in that infuriating way that always feels like he knows something I don’t.

“They got you, too?”

I freeze.

My heart does something traitorous and stupid before my brain catches up.

“Dominic?” I say flatly.

He shifts, the movement soft but unmistakable, close. The emergency light catches him sitting on one of the mats, long legs stretched out so close I’m practically between his legs-his arms braced behind him like

he’s been there a while.
