The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance)
Chapter 176
I pull my boots on, tugging the laces tight enough to cut off my circulation. I don’t care. My mind is already halfway to Valeria. I’ve spent the last three days pacing my room like a caged animal, counting every second until I could slip away. Tonight, nothing will
stop me from seeing Lyra. Not even her.
I know she thinks I don’t want her anymore, but fuck what she thinks. She’s mine and I’m not letting her go. I’m going to wipe off
the torturous memory of my damn cousin kissing her by owning her, body and soul.
I reach for my dark jacket and slide it over my shoulders. My movements are fast and rough. I need to see her. I need to make sure
she’s safe in that house full of snakes.
A sharp knock at the door makes me freeze.
Shit.
I glance at the clock on the wall. It’s past midnight. No one should be at my door. If my father has sent the guards to check on me,
my plan is dead before it even started. I hold my breath, my hand hovering over the silver dagger on my belt.
“Kai? It’s me. Open up.”
It’s Damon. I let out a frustrated breath and stomp toward the door, swinging it open.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I snap, not bothering to hide my irritation. “I’m busy, Damon. Go back to sleep.”
Damon doesn’t move. He’s standing in the hallway, looking like he just saw someone die. His face is pale, and he won’t meet my
eyes. He looks hesitant, shifting his weight from one foot to the other.
“What is going on?” I ask, my voice dropping an octave. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Uh…well, There’s something you should see,” Damon says quietly. He looks up then, and the pity in his eyes makes my stomach
turn. “Warning, you’re not going to like this. I just… I didn’t want you to find out on your own and lose it in front of the wrong
people.”
I tense. My muscles lock into place as a cold chill sweeps through my veins.
‘Something is wrong, Kai‘ Vlad growls in the back of my mind. My beast is already pacing, his claws scratching at the edges of my
mind. “Our Diamond. Something is wrong with our Diamond.”
I feel my heart start to race against my ribs. My gut has been telling me all night that something was wrong, but I tried to ignore it.
Now, seeing Damon’s face, I can’t ignore it anymore.
“Is… it… about… Lyra?” I ask. My voice is trembling, barely more than a whisper.
Damon looks guilty, like he’s the one who caused the problem. He nods slowly.

Chapter 176
Fear grips me like a real hand around my throat. I reach out and grab Damon’s arms, my grip tight enough to bruise. I pull him into
the room and slam the door shut.
“Did her family actually hurt her?” I demand, my voice rising with every word. “I specifically warned them. I told their Alpha that if
they dared to touch a hair on her head, I would kill them all. Did they dare to disobey my orders? Is she bleeding? Is she in a ceil?”
“No. No, Kai, it’s not that,” Damon says quickly, trying to pull my hands off his arms. “It’s about Lyra, but not in the way you think.”
I pause, my mind racing. If she’s not hart, then what? Did she run away? Did she go back to the academy?
“Then what is it? Tell me!”
Damon lets out a heavy sigh. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out,
his phone. He holds it against his chest for a second, looking
at me with a pained expression.
“Promise me you won’t freak out if I show you this?” he asks. “Promise you won’t do something you might regret?”
