Chapter 184
I don’t answer. I try to push past him, but he grabs my shoulder.
“I’m coming with you,” Roman says.
A laugh escapes me before I can stop it. “Why the hell would allow you to come with me? So you can get in the way and play hero?”
“Because I don’t trust you not to hurt her!” Roman yells.
I go still. The hallway falls silent. Roman is right. Every bone in my body wants to punish her. I want to make her feel the pain I felt last night. But it’s not
the kind of punishment Roman thinks.
I want to own her. I want to fuck her until the only name she knows is mine. I want to mark her so deeply that no other man will ever dare to look at her again. I want to tie her up and hide her away in a room where I am the only person who exists for her.
But Roman doesn’t need to know that.
“Go back inside,” I say, my voice low and dangerous. “Keep your mouth shut. Don’t follow me.”
I turn to leave again, but Roman’s voice stops me one last time.
“If you hurt her in any way, Kai… I’ll forget you’re the Crown Prince. I’ll fight you until one of us is dead. I mean it.”
I almost find it funny. I give him one last look, a look that tells him how little I care about his threats, and I walk away.
I don’t bother to take a car because I know it will take longer than expected. As soon as I reach past the palace gates and hit the tree line, I strip off my
shirt and let the shift take me.
The shift is fast and painful. My bones crack, my skin stretches, and then Vlad is out. He’s massive, a beast of pure shadow and rage. We don’t just run, we fly. We are practically a blur through the woods, tearing through the underbrush like lightning. Every mile I cover only makes my blood hotter.
An Hour Later.
The moment I arrive at the border of the Valeria pack, I shift back into my human form, puling on the spare pants I had tied to my leg.
I look at the pack house in the distance. It looks different than the last time I was here. It looks smaller. Shabbier. It looks like the home of a family that is running out of money. They probably went broke from having to pay back my father for stealing his diamond.
I’m about to walk straight through the front gates and tear the doors off their hinges, but Vlad stops me.
‘Wait. Don’t barge in. If we sneak in, we might see the truth. We’ll catch them when they aren’t performing for the Prince.‘
I agree with him. It’s better no one knows I’m here right now. I move silently like a shadow among shadows. I scale the perimeter wall with ease, digging my claws into the stone. The guards are useless. They are standing at the main gate, gossiping and looking at their phones. A rogue could enter in here and kill
their Alpha before they even noticed.
I use my Lycan hearing to follow the sound of voices. They are coming from the main hall. I find a large, open window on the second floor and slip inside. The hall below is packed with people. It’s dark enough that I can hide behind a pillar without being seen.

Chapter 184
Dook down, and my heart stops when I spot Lyra. The fucking images hit me again and I have the urge to blow someone’s head off.
