The Lycan Prince’s Wolfless Slave (Academy Romance) novel Chapter 246

Chapter 246

Kai

I stare at this guy, Nick, in absolute shock.

I take a step back, my hands dropping to my sides as I scan his face. The thing is, he doesn’t really look exactly like Lyra, but the

resemblance is impossible to deny. They share the exact same striking features, that silver hair and those piercing blue eyes. Every

single instinct in my gut is screaming at me to call him a liar, to reject the idea of what he is saying. But the proof is staring right

back at me.

Even though anger is clawing at my chest, I don’t say a word. I just stand there and stare at the boy. Nick.

Is this the secret Lyra has been hiding from me all this while? I always knew she was keeping things close to her chest. I could feel

the walls she built around herself. I just assumed her secrets were about her abilities. I had absolutely no idea she had a whole secret brother running around the academy grounds.

Nick glares back at me for a second, then turns away to leave, But Kara steps directly into his path, stopping him completely. She places a hand on his chest, eyeing him with suspicion. “Hey, woah there! Hold your horses.”

Nick stops, glaring down at my sister. His jaw tightens. “What do you want?”

Kara doesn’t drop her hand. She looks him up and down, her voice sharp. “If you are really Lyra’s biological brother, where the hell have you been all these years? How come Lyra grew up with another family entirely? Where did you suddenly appear from, and why

now?”

Nick lets out a heavy sigh, rubbing his face with his free hand. He looks drained, his shoulders slumping.

“Look. My sister is currently in the hands of those grotesque demons, facing goddess knows what kind of torture right now. If you’re not going to help me find and rescue her, I suggest you stop questioning me like I’m in some sort of criminal interview and just let me go save her.”

I step up beside Kara, gently pulling her hand down from his chest. I look Nick straight in the eyes. “I agree with him. The interrogation can wait. We need to find Lyra. Now.”

The rest of the group gathers around us in a tight circle under the dark canopy of the trees. The music from the bonfire party is still thumping in the distance, but the mood here is deathly serious. We immediately start discussing how to find her.

Roman steps forward, gesturing toward the deeper part of the forest. “We need to launch a full attack on their manor right now. That is where one of their demon lords reportedly stays. If they took her, they took her there to present her to him.”

Damon shakes his head immediately, his expression grim. “No, that’s too obvious, Roman. The demons aren’t stupid. They know that their manor would be the first place the royal guards would check for Lyra. They will probably take her to somewhere hidden, a secondary location or an outpost, until the heat dies down.”

“We don’t have time to guess where their hidden outposts are, Damon! Everyone should just listen to me for once! The manor is our best bet, and we have the manpower to tear it down!” Roman insists angrily.

“And what if we waste hours tearing down an empty manor while Lyra is being tortured miles away in a ditch?” Damon counters, his voice rising as he steps into Roman’s space.

The two of them start going back and forth and their arguments get louder and more aggressive, wasting precious seconds.

“Enough!” I yell so loudly that my voice booms through the circle with authority. “Shut up, both of you! We are not getting anywhere if we keep arguing like a bunch of children! Every second we waste here is a second she doesn’t have!”

When everyone finally goes completely silent, staring at me, I take a deep breath and lay out the strategy.

“Here’s what we’ll do,” I say, looking around the circle. “Nick and I will try to track whatever physical scent is left of Lyra in these woods. Maybe we can trail her movements if they are indeed hiding her somewhere nearby in the forest. While we do that, Damon Roman, and the ladies will take the warriors Damon summoned and head straight to their manor lair. If there’s any sign of her in either place, we will communicate immediately through our links or phones. That way, we can cover more ground and eliminate the guesswork. Understood?”
