Claire stopped refusing when Kathleen said that there was no time at all and the loss incurred by her company might exceed ten million US dollars daily.
Kathleen reminded her again, “By the way, Claire, you don’t have to bring too much luggage with you. I have everything you need here, be it daily necessities or anything that you need for work. You can stay in my room at my house after you come here. You can use anything I have if you need anything, so you should pack lightly this time. The simpler, the better.”
“Okay.”
Claire did not dare to delay at all because Kathleen described her situation to be extremely urgent. She hung up the phone and returned to the bedroom with Charlie and started packing her luggage.
Although Kathleen had already told Claire to travel light, Claire still packed all her necessary personal belongings as much as possible to avoid causing any trouble or inconvenience to Kathleen in the United States.
Kathleen quickly made the arrangements for the business jet as well. The Foxes’ business jet which was located in Hong Kong took off for Aurous Hill late at night and would land in Aurous Hill early in the morning to wait for Claire to arrive before taking off to New York.
As Kathleen had already laid out the groundwork for the need for Claire to deal with the situation, Claire felt that time was tight, and she planned to leave for the airport immediately at six o’clock in the morning tomorrow. There was no traffic jam in Aurous Hill at six o’clock in the morning, so she should be able to arrive at the airport in half an hour. If everything went smoothly, she might be able to board the plane and take off at seven o’clock.
Claire felt very reluctant to leave Charlie when she thought of how she would be going to the United States, which was so far away, but she had no other choice. After all, Kathleen had helped her a lot, and Claire had always wanted to find an opportunity to repay Kathleen’s kindness.
Charlie could finally heave a sigh of relief as he accomplished his plan to send Claire away.
After the couple was done packing Claire’s luggage, Charlie suddenly remembered something and asked Claire, “Honey, do you want to tell your parents about your trip?”
Claire pondered for a moment and then shook her head as she said, “Forget it. If I tell my mother that I am going to the United States, she might cause trouble and insist on coming with me. I’m not going to the United States for a vacation, so how could I take her with me? You should take me to the airport in the morning tomorrow and tell her after I get on the plane. Just tell her that I made a last-minute decision to go to the United States, so I didn’t inform her in advance because I had to leave in a hurry. By then, she would not have a chance to come with me even if she wanted to.”
Charlie was well aware that he was bound to have a fierce battle with a certain great earl from the Qing Eliminating Society this time. He had no worries at all but was actually somewhat looking forward to this fierce battle from the bottom of his heart.
All his previous enemies were all too weak in comparison.
This time would be the best opportunity to test his strength.
Although Vera said that he would be facing danger, Charlie was still somewhat confident of the chance for him to win this fierce battle. This was mainly because he knew that he was definitely not exposed yet, so the enemy would most likely ring the two ‘bells’ that he had asked Zachary to set up.
In that case, the enemy would be in the open whereas he would be hidden in the dark, so he naturally had a better chance of winning!
