After saying that, she followed Charlie out of the dining room and headed to the courtyard where Charlie's parents used to live.
Due to the large size of this courtyard, Charlie's parents used to have four adjoining rooms. Apart from a main hall and a bedroom, there was also a study and Charlie's own room.
To put it simply, it was a three-bedroom apartment with a living room. Charlie had lived here for several years, so he was quite familiar with the overall layout. In addition, there were hardly any noticeable changes, so it was easier for him to distinguish.
Upon entering the main hall, the furniture and arrangement inside remained almost unchanged from when his parents had left with him. In an instant, images of his childhood spent living here with his parents flooded Charlie's mind, stirring up various emotions in him.
He then quickly toured these rooms with Vera. Apart from furniture, there were some bedding and pillows prepared in the main hall and bedroom, but it was obvious they were newly replaced. Thus, the main hall and bedroom lost their value in searching for clues.
Therefore, Charlie focused his attention on the study. The study, converted from one of the courtyard wings, was not very large and just around thirty square meters. However, it had bookshelves covering three walls which were filled with a large number of books.
Even twenty years later, there were still many of the books on the shelves that were left behind by Curtis and Ashley. These were all the items that they could not take with them when they left.
Charlie glanced around and found that although there were many books in the study, they were generally categorized into three groups. The first category was finance and management which were mostly insights written by world-renowned economists and finance professionals. The second category was history and biographies, and the third category was the Book of Changes and the Eight Diagrams.
When he was younger, Charlie didn't understand much. So, whenever he came to his parents' study to find books, he only focused on interesting history books, ignoring the rest. It wasn't until today that he realized his parents had started studying the Book of Changes and the Eight Diagrams long ago.
