Charlie nodded and professed earnestly, "When I was a kid, I heard the story of the Oskian gangs overseas. Back then, they dared to go all out, and because of that, they secured a considerable foundation in Canada, the United States, and even Europe. I've never expected that into the twenty-first century, the Oskian gangs all over the world are declining rapidly. A lot of them have already disappeared. Those that remain hide in the dark and live like a pack of rats. Do you know why?"
"B-Because—" Daves spluttered awkwardly, "O-Over the years, Europe and the States have become more and more aggressive in cracking down on gangs. The degree of unity among Oskians is indeed worse than that of Koreans and Vietnamese, so it's much harder now—"
"You're wrong!" Charlie snapped and interrupted him. "They're all excuses. From what I see, the reason why overseas Oskian gangs are rapidly declining is the loss of courage and grit!"
He sighed and continued, "Many of the members of the Oskian gangs in the last century fought on battlefields. After leaving the army, some wanted to see the world, so they traveled abroad to make a living. At that time, the only way they could come to Europe and the States was by smuggling into the countries by boat. They were fearless. They were not afraid of the Americans, Italians, Mexicans, and Algerians in the States. The mafia and the Mexican drug lords were nothing in their eyes. When they risked their lives to come and stand on this piece of land, all they knew was they were fearless and would do anything to survive!"
Then, he pointed at Daves and added, "Look at you. These so-called second- and third-generation Oskians have long since lost the ruthlessness of your fathers! Many of you were born in the States and became naturalized American citizens. You grew up drinking milk and Coca-Cola, and eating burgers and cereal. Even if you are the descendants of wolves, you have already lived like a pet dog. I don't expect you to have your father's guts. If you had gone through the same journey your father had taken to come here, your legs would have gone jelly first before you could even get on the boat!"
At this point, Daves hung his head lower, feeling extremely ashamed.
Charlie was right.
Back then, Daves' father had participated in the war. His senior came to North America before him and made a fortune. Then, his senior asked him to join them in the States to make money. It was at that time that these men with bullet wounds all over their bodies formed the Oskian Gang in Oskiatown and made a name for themselves in the United States and Canada.
