The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 111

Sarah rushed over. Seeing the snapped strap on Jocelyn's gown, she didn't say a word. She just grabbed Jocelyn's wrist and pulled her into the restroom.

"Change into my dress and go back in."

"What about you?" Jocelyn asked.

"I was forced to come to this thing anyway," Sarah said dismissively. "They called it a charity gala, but my dad just wanted me to look for a suitable husband. I have zero interest in that. I'll put your dress on and just go straight home."

Jocelyn hesitated.

"Stop hesitating," Sarah urged. "If you don't go back in, Adrian will definitely be furious. Right now, you need to stroke his ego and keep him happy. Don't forget, your main goal is to get your revenge."

Jocelyn felt a surge of gratitude. "Thank you, Sarah."

"Don't give me that. Hurry up."

The two of them swapped dresses quickly in the stall. Thankfully, they were roughly the same size, so the swap worked perfectly.

"What about that brat?" Sarah asked.

"Let her sit in there and think about what she did," Jocelyn replied coldly. "Leave her. Someone will eventually let her out later."

"Good."

The two walked out together and ran into Liam at the entrance to the banquet hall.

Seeing their swapped outfits, Liam chuckled. "Playing dress-up, are we?"

Then he noticed the snapped strap on the dress Sarah was wearing. She was holding it up against her chest to avoid flashing anyone.

For once, Liam dropped the jokes. He immediately shrugged off his suit jacket and draped it over Sarah's shoulders.

Jocelyn was still worried. "Sarah..."

Liam guessed what she was going to say.

"Go inside. I'll take her home."

"I drove myself," Sarah snapped. "I don't need you to take me anywhere. Both of you, go inside."

Liam just grabbed her arm and pulled her along. "I didn't drive today. Perfect, I'll borrow your car. Plus, I need to make sure I get my jacket back. This is limited edition."

Despite his chaotic, unpredictable nature, Liam never hesitated when it mattered.

Jocelyn really respected that about him.

Watching them walk away, she suddenly had the fleeting thought that they might actually be perfect for each other.

"Why are you still standing out here? The auction has already started."

How was it here?

Whoever bought it must have been unbelievably wealthy to donate such a masterpiece for a charity auction.

My god.

Jocelyn couldn't help but be impressed. The buyer wasn't just rich; they were incredibly generous.

Meanwhile, Adrian checked his phone. Audrey had just sent him a text.

[Adrian, I love this necklace.]

Adrian frowned and typed a single "Mhm" in reply.

By pure coincidence, Jocelyn caught a glimpse of the message.

Audrey really had the nerve to ask for the stars.

Well, as it turned out, Jocelyn wanted it too.

And she was definitely going to fight for it.

So, she spoke up.
