"Maria, pack your things. We're moving in a few days."
"Moving? Why in the world are we moving?"
"I'm taking you and my mom to live in a much bigger place."
"A bigger place? Where are we going to find a bigger place right now?"
"The Serenity Estate."
The Serenity Estate was the massive, 2,000-square-foot luxury condo Marcus Evans had secretly purchased in Jocelyn's name.
It was fully furnished with four bedrooms, more than enough space for the three of them.
Marcus had bought it quietly, hiding it entirely from Diana, and since it was out in the South Hills, Diana had absolutely no clue it existed.
"But Miss Jocelyn, aren't you going to work at Mr. Vance's company? If we move all the way out to the South Hills, your commute is going to be terrible. It's so much more convenient here."
Jocelyn looked over at Sylvia, a warm smile spreading across her face.
"It's just a little extra driving. It really won't be that bad."
"Besides, Julian already bought land out there. Vanguard Tech is expanding its R&D center to the South Hills, so it's actually going to work out perfectly."
Maria thought about it for a second.
"That's true. And if we move, we won't have to deal with that Lowell guy showing up uninvited all the time."
Jocelyn chuckled.
Maria had officially downgraded Adrian from 'Mr. Lowell' to 'that Lowell guy'.
It was only then that both women realized they had completely ignored their guest.
Julian was still standing quietly off to the side, not making a sound.
Jocelyn couldn't help but laugh.
"Why are you being so quiet? I completely forgot you were still here."
Julian offered a faint smile.
"It's late. You all need to get some rest. I'm heading out."
Jocelyn walked him to the door.
"Julian."
He paused. "Yeah?"
Jocelyn hesitated for a second.
"Thank you for everything these past couple of days. I know I dragged you through hell."
Julian frowned.
"We live in the same complex. We ran into each other. That's the extent of it."
Claire's voice suddenly spiked in volume.
"Stop lying to me! I just watched you walk out of her apartment! It's the middle of the night, and you were in there alone with her. Do you really expect me to believe nothing is going on?!"
Julian remained perfectly composed.
"I really don't care what you believe, Ms. Lowell. I am simply reminding you to be very careful about what comes out of your mouth."
A wicked thought crossed Claire's mind, and she stepped right up to Julian.
"What do you think will happen if I tell my brother you've been sneaking around with his wife in the middle of the night?"
The man's dark eyes gleamed dangerously in the shadows, and a chilling smile curled his lips—one that made the hair on the back of her neck stand up.
"Are you threatening me?"
Completely oblivious to the lethal aura radiating from him, Claire arrogantly thought she had him backed into a corner.
"Call it a threat if you want. But if you want me to keep my mouth shut, you'd better..."
Suddenly, her airway was crushed, cutting off her words completely.
