The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 251

Jocelyn's ears burned. She instinctively glanced at Julian.

Julian happened to be looking right at her.

The moment their eyes met, a jolt of something unspoken surged through her chest.

They both quickly looked away.

Julian cleared his throat and spoke pointedly to Liam.

"It's a bit crowded in here. Let's step out and let the girls catch up."

Liam frowned. "But I just got here! I haven't even had a chance to talk to Jo yet."

Julian physically ushered him toward the door.

"You'll have plenty of chances later. Come outside and have a smoke with me."

Sarah watched them leave, then turned back with a puzzled look.

"Is it just me, or is Mr. Vance acting a little weird?"

Jocelyn tried her best to hide the panic fluttering in her stomach.

"No, I don't think so. He seems perfectly normal to me."

"Really? Because I got the feeling..."

"By the way, Sarah, tell me how the company is doing right now."

Sarah's attention was successfully diverted.

She immediately launched into a passionate update on their current operations.

Jocelyn nodded along, but she couldn't focus on a single word.

Downstairs in the small garden, Liam and Julian lit their cigarettes.

Liam took a deep drag.

"Who do you think is behind this?"

"The timing is too perfect," Julian said, his voice cold. "It happened right after she filed for divorce. The most obvious suspect is Grandma Lowell. And Caleb Preston definitely played a part in it too."

"So, how do we settle this score?" Liam asked.

A chilling, predatory light flickered in Julian's eyes.

Liam suddenly threw an arm around his friend's shoulders, a knowing smirk playing on his lips.

"I wanted to ask you back in the hospital room—I knew something was off about you."

Julian's gaze dropped to the glowing red cherry of his cigarette, desperately trying to banish the vivid images flooding his mind.

"You're imagining things."

Liam clicked his tongue.
