"And what if I don't want to?"
Adrian Lowell's irritation flared up instantly.
"Lana, don't make me angry, okay? Or are you saying you want to end things between us?"
Lana's heart ached slightly.
"If you want to end it, I can."
Adrian frowned. He grabbed the back of her hand and gave it a light bite.
"You little tease, playing hard to get, huh? Since when did you start taking a page out of that woman's playbook?"
That woman?
"Jocelyn?"
Bringing her up only fueled Adrian's anger.
"Who else but that damn woman! And another thing! Don't call her that anymore. We're e-filing for divorce tomorrow. If things go fast, I'll have the divorce decree in hand within two weeks."
Lana opened her mouth, hesitating.
"Something to say?"
"There's something... I don't know if I should tell you."
Adrian was already worked up.
"Since when do we keep secrets from each other?"
Lana hesitated. "I was just worried..."
Adrian lost his patience. "Spit it out!"
"Actually, I've run into her twice," Lana confessed.
Adrian raised an eyebrow. "I didn't expect you two to actually cross paths."
"Just by chance. The city is big, but it's still just one city."
"And then?"
"The first time I saw her was at The Sovereign Club. The second time was in a hotel room, with a strange man..."
Adrian's dark eyes narrowed instantly.
"What did you say?!"
Lana quickly added, "But that man forced her into the hotel. It looked like he was going to..."
Adrian's breath hitched. "And then?!"
