Audrey continued, "Remember that patient who died during liposuction a while back? Grandma handled it perfectly. She settled with the family and paid them extra for a non-disclosure agreement."
"But somehow, out of nowhere, the whole thing just blew up in the press. On top of that, a bunch of people who had previous medical disputes with the clinic are suddenly coming out of the woodwork. They're ripping the place apart online, acting like they want to destroy the business completely."
Smash!
A beautiful crystal glass shattered violently against the floor.
Eleanor's face twisted into an ugly sneer.
"Someone is orchestrating this behind the scenes! And they better pray I don't find out who they are!"
Adrian didn't seem particularly invested, offering a half-hearted reassurance.
"Grandma, don't stress yourself out. Give it a couple of days, and this whole thing will probably blow over."
Michelle interjected, "It's not going to blow over. From what I hear, it's suspended indefinitely pending an investigation."
"If they're closed indefinitely, the Lowell family just lost a massive stream of income."
Eleanor shot her a dirty look.
"All you ever think about is money! Is the money really the priority right now?! The issue is how we're supposed to swallow this kind of humiliation!"
Claire, who had been quiet until now, suddenly spoke up.
"Grandma, I bet it's that bitch!"
Adrian immediately took offense.
"Claire, who taught you to talk like that?!"
Claire lifted her chin defiantly. "You're divorcing her! What do you care what I call her?"
Adrian's face hardened. "Don't go throwing baseless accusations around! Besides, do you really think she has that kind of power?"
Claire scoffed.
"She's got plenty of tricks up her sleeve. She even got Mr. Va..."
Claire swallowed the rest of her sentence.
"And don't give me that excuse about Leo being too young. We have Audrey, and if worst comes to worst, we still have Caleb Preston to back us up. With his help, the Lowell family won't fall apart."
Caleb Preston...
At the sound of that name, Adrian's cold gaze swept over Audrey's face.
Audrey's heart skipped a beat, and she blurted out in a panic.
"Grandma, my dad would never interfere with the Lowell family's business! Adrian is your rightful heir. Of course he should be the one to take over the family legacy."
Eleanor gave Adrian a sidelong glance.
"I'm just worried that some people..."
"Grandma." Adrian couldn't listen to another word. "I already sorted everything out with her today. We're e-filing the divorce papers tomorrow. The agreement is signed, and neither of us has any objections. Once we go through the motions, we'll have the divorce decree in no time."
Eleanor finally gave a slow, satisfied nod.
"Good. Then I'll be waiting to see that divorce decree with my own eyes."
