Jocelyn and Sarah agreed to meet on the ground floor of the mall.

When Jocelyn arrived, she was surprised to see Liam Bancroft standing right next to Sarah.

Liam had his elbow casually propped on Sarah's shoulder, looking like they were the best of friends.

Sarah immediately explained.

"I was just about to leave my apartment when this idiot called. He found out we were going shopping and shamelessly invited himself. So annoying!"

Liam grinned, looking entirely too pleased with himself.

"I had nothing better to do anyway."

Jocelyn didn't mind.

"Perfect. Now we have someone to carry our bags."

Sarah linked her arm through Jocelyn's and laughed.

"My thoughts exactly. Let's go!"

They hadn't even been browsing for long before Liam was loaded down with multiple shopping bags.

"Seriously, Sarah, it's been twenty minutes and you've bought all this? Are you trying to buy the entire mall?"

Sipping her coffee, Sarah looked incredibly satisfied.

"I have money. If I want to buy it, I buy it."

"Look at Jo," Liam teased. "She hasn't bought a single thing yet. So frugal."

Jocelyn rolled her eyes.

"I'm broke."

Liam wiggled his eyebrows at her.

"Sweetheart, whatever you want, just tell me. I'll buy it for you."

"I want you to buy me things too," Sarah chimed in.

"Get lost," Liam shot back.

"Wow, cheating on me right in front of my face? Who was it that constantly reminded me we're supposedly boyfriend and girlfriend?"

Liam flashed a wicked grin.

"Stop trying to seduce me in front of Jo."

Sarah nearly threw her coffee at him.

Caught in the middle, Jocelyn didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

But it was nice. This kind of easy, laughing banter was what a good life was supposed to feel like.

As they passed a men's luxury boutique, Liam suddenly remembered something.

"Almost forgot. Julian's birthday is coming up. I need to get him a gift."

Jocelyn paused, wanting to ask for the date, but Sarah beat her to it.
