Jocelyn spent half the day showing her clients around the city, and she was already aching with exhaustion.

Carrying a baby definitely took a toll on her stamina. She was nowhere near as energetic as she used to be.

But Mr. Charlie and his associate were having a wonderful time, and she didn't want to ruin the mood, so she pushed through the fatigue.

Chloe Young noticed her waning energy.

"Jocelyn, are you feeling overwhelmed?"

She offered an awkward smile. "A little bit."

"Why don't we let Mr. Charlie know? You should head back to the hotel and rest for the afternoon."

"I can't do that. They flew all the way out here. We need to make sure they have a great trip. Plus, they just signed a massive contract with us. It's the least we can do to show our appreciation."

Chloe sighed in defeat.

"I really wish I spoke French so I could take over for you."

Then an idea struck her.

"Let me call Mr. Vance. He's fluent in several languages. He can come down and take over the tour."

Jocelyn shook her head quickly.

"The tech expo is stressful enough for him. I don't want to distract him. Honestly, I'm perfectly fine."

Chloe looked incredibly conflicted.

"But he explicitly warned me not to let you overwork yourself."

"I'm not made of glass," she laughed softly. "I'm not going to shatter just from walking around a bit more."

Chloe eventually stepped away to grab her some juice.

Barely a minute after she left.

Julian called.

"I just spoke with Mr. Charlie," Julian announced. "I'm sending a French-speaking tour guide over for the afternoon. You're going home to rest."

She was speechless for a solid moment.

"How did you arrange that so quickly?"

He was perfectly honest.

"Chloe texted me."

She didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

That girl...

Julian quickly explained himself.

"Don't be mad at her. I gave her direct orders."

She playfully teased him.

"Even if I was mad, I wouldn't dare yell at her. She is your executive assistant, after all."

That sounded... incredibly intense.

If it had come from a notorious flirt like Liam, she would have brushed it off as a meaningless joke.

But coming from Julian, it carried a completely different weight.

After a long moment of silence, Julian spoke again.

His tone was steady and entirely pragmatic.

"Every employee is an invaluable asset. Only when you are all healthy and functioning at your best can the company reach its full potential. In that sense, all of you are more important than the business itself."

Jocelyn let out a breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

"You make a good point, Boss."

She chuckled at herself, feeling a bit ridiculous.

Ending the call, Julian looked up to find Ethan frozen in the doorway.

Looking painfully awkward, unsure if he should stay or run.

Julian actually felt a rare pang of embarrassment and cleared his throat.

"Sorry about that, sir. I really should have knocked first. It slipped my mind."
