The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 452

"His extraordinary presence."

Jocelyn held the photograph to her chest as if it were her most prized possession.

"Julian, seriously... thank you so much."

"Why are you thanking me all of a sudden?" Julian asked.

Jocelyn offered a bright, genuine smile.

"I don't know. I just really wanted to say thank you."

Perhaps it was because ever since he walked into her life, her barren world had constantly bloomed with new life.

Julian's phone rang.

It was Liam Bancroft.

Since Julian was driving, he asked Jocelyn to answer it for him.

Jocelyn put it on speaker and offered a cheerful greeting.

Liam paused on the other end of the line.

"Didn't I call Julian's phone?"

"He's driving right now," Jocelyn replied.

Liam scoffed.

"It's the middle of the night, and you two are still together?"

Jocelyn told him the truth.

"Penelope got sick, and Quentin wasn't home. Julian and I took her to the hospital for an IV drip, then took her home and had dinner. That's why it got so late."

Liam sounded rather satisfied.

"Well, that's a detailed report. Anyway, I was going to call you too, so you can both just listen."

"Alright, go ahead," Jocelyn said.

"I'm leaving."

Jocelyn blinked in surprise. "Leaving? Going where?"

"I have to head back to the family estate."

Jocelyn didn't pry. "Oh, okay."

Liam was immediately displeased.

"Oh, okay? What kind of reaction is that? I'm leaving, and you don't even care?"

Jocelyn laughed. "It's not like you're never coming back."

"What if I don't?"

"You wouldn't do that."

"How do you know?"

"Your brothers are here, your friends are here, and so is The Evans Group. You couldn't bear to leave all that behind."

Liam chuckled.

"Our Jo knows me best."

Julian suddenly spoke up.

"Why the sudden trip back to the estate?"

As far as he knew, Liam had run away from home ten years ago after a massive falling out with his father.

He hadn't been back once in a decade.

The call ended.

"I finally get to meet the actual boss of The Sovereign Club tomorrow?" Jocelyn asked.

"Yeah. Are you looking forward to it?"

"Definitely. I've always wondered what he looks like."

Julian fell silent for a few seconds.

"You seem to be very interested in handsome men."

"Me? Am I?"

"When you met Gideon, you definitely took a few extra looks."

Jocelyn covered her mouth, giggling.

"That's because the man literally has eight-pack abs!"

A guy with an eight-pack was undeniably tempting for any woman to look at.

The car seemed to slow down slightly.

Julian didn't say a word for a long time.

Realizing something, Jocelyn decided to tease him.

"Don't tell me... you're feeling insecure?"

"I have them too," he stated.

Huh?

"Eight-pack abs. I have them too."
