The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 6

But before her surprise could arrive, Adrian had delivered a shock of his own.

If she had known then what she knew now, she never would have gotten pregnant with his child!

Sarah cursed through gritted teeth. "That animal! That bastard doesn't deserve your devotion! He couldn't even keep his hands off his own sister-in-law! Men really do think with their dicks!"

Jocelyn let out a long breath. "He was in love with Audrey even before we got married."

"What?" Sarah's voice shot up several octaves. "What the hell? So... you were just a substitute?"

Jocelyn gave a bitter smile. "Not even a substitute."

Sarah spat, "Oh my god! Is Adrian even human? Does he have any idea how much you love him, how good you've been to him?"

"That tech company of his was about to go under when its core system failed. You were the one, you, a programming prodigy, who secretly fixed it for him and saved his ass! That's the only reason he has the market he does today!"

"And how many times did you secretly step in to help him land clients he couldn't close on his own?"

"You were so worried about him drinking too much at business dinners that you would drink for him, and you were the one who ended up sick for days."

But that man never even batted an eye.

"You did so much for him and never asked for anything in return. Forget about shares in the company, you don't even get a salary!"

"And now he has the nerve to be so ungrateful!"

The more Sarah thought about it, the angrier she got. "Jo! Divorce him! You have to divorce him!"

Jocelyn's emotions slowly settled, her gaze firm with a resolve she had never felt before.

"I'm already preparing the divorce papers. But before I do, everyone who took something from me is going to give it back, piece by piece."

Sarah clapped her on the shoulder in support. "Good. Divorcing him is the right thing to do. It's not like decent men are hard to find. Get rid of him, so you don't have to look at that disgusting pair anymore."

"And now there's also a..."

Remembering that the baby was innocent, Sarah chose her words carefully.

"Now there's a child involved. Seeing them all day, every day... it would be unbearable."

"Divorce him! I'll start looking for guys for you to date tomorrow!"

Jocelyn couldn't help but smile. "Anyone would think I was desperate to get married again."

"You? Desperate? Please. Men would be lining up around the block for you."

Jocelyn laughed. "You're exaggerating."

And 'Storm,' the second-in-command, was Jocelyn.

At the time, she was only eighteen years old.

Jocelyn smiled faintly. "That's all in the past."

Sarah insisted, "My point is, that son of a bitch Adrian is blind. He wouldn't know a diamond if it was staring him in the face. Losing you is the biggest mistake of his life!"

A warmth spread through Jocelyn's chest. "Thank you, Sarah."

Sarah's expression turned somber again. "So, what are you going to do about the baby?"

If she didn't keep it... it was something she had longed for, a part of her.

A mother's bond was strong. How could she just let it go?

But if she did keep it, it was still Adrian's child...

It was an impossible choice.

Jocelyn's thoughts began to clear. "I don't like loose ends. I'm going to terminate the pregnancy."
