The Man Who Waited vs. The Man Who Wasted novel Chapter 91

Jocelyn's legs had long since gone numb.

She placed her hand in Julian's, using his support to step out of the closet.

The moment her foot touched the ground, her leg gave way, and she started to fall.

With lightning-fast reflexes, Julian caught her.

On instinct, Jocelyn clung to his waist.

The pose they struck in that instant was incredibly intimate.

Ethan blinked, watching the scene unfold. For a moment, he had the strange illusion that Jocelyn was Julian's real fiancée.

They looked so perfect together.

Realizing the inappropriateness of their position, Jocelyn quickly pulled away from Julian's embrace.

"Sorry, my leg fell asleep."

Julian looked concerned. "The air in there is thin. Will that affect anything?"

It took Jocelyn a few seconds to understand what he meant by "anything."

"It's not that serious. Don't worry."

He seemed genuinely worried.

"That's good," Julian said.

Jocelyn said, "You only said that just now to help me, didn't you?"

"It was a sudden situation."

"Are you really going to attend?"

"I said I would *try*."

Ethan chimed in playfully, "Sir, you're willing to sacrifice your honor for Miss Evans."

Jocelyn wanted to laugh but couldn't.

"It was my fault in there. I was careless and got you involved."

"Don't be so hard on yourself," Julian said. "If anyone's to blame, it's me. I should have arranged a more secure meeting place. I'll do better next time."

Jocelyn was at a loss for words.

It was one thing to be willing to admit fault, but for someone who was clearly not at fault to take the blame so readily made her feel even more ashamed.

Jocelyn changed the subject.

"Sarah has left her previous company. I recommended yours to her."

"I saw her application," Julian said.

"She's a rare talent. I wanted to recommend her to you before, but she already had a job, so I didn't bring it up. The timing is perfect now."

"I'd like to ask you to help me find someone."

"Find someone?"

"Yes. She's a housekeeper for the Lowell family, Maria. Her full name is Maria Reyes."

Although Julian didn't ask for details, Jocelyn explained the situation anyway.

"Maria was fired from the Lowell family because of me," Jocelyn said, her voice filled with guilt. "I got her into trouble."

"Maria is getting older, and her family situation isn't great. I'm worried about her, so I want to find her."

Without a moment's hesitation, Julian replied.

"Alright. I'll find her as soon as possible."

"Thank you."

Ethan chimed in confidently, "Miss Evans, don't you worry. When our boss wants to find someone, there's no one he can't find. He's incredibly capable."

Jocelyn smiled. "Your assistant really admires you. He was talking you up the whole time."

Julian smiled faintly. "He tends to be straightforward and sometimes exaggerates. Don't mind him."

Ethan protested.

"Sir, when have I ever exaggerated? You really are that amazing."
