Chapter 4
I looked down and saw Roxie collapsed on the floor, soaked in wine from head to toe.
“What’s going on? What’s that noise on your end?”
Ethan paused for a beat, clearly about to make something up, but then Roxie’s timid voice came through the line. “Ms. Blake… it’s me.”
“Mr. Grant thought I was too inexperienced, so he brought me along on the trip. Please don’t take it the wrong way.”
My eyes turned cold. So that’s it? You really couldn’t hold back any longer? Can’t wait to flaunt it in front of me, hoping I’ll just step aside like that?
I ignored her completely and spoke to Ethan. “Is your company doing so poorly now that it can’t even afford separate rooms?”
Ethan rushed to explain. “Babe, Roxie only came to drop off some paperwork. We’re not staying together. I’ll have her leave right now.”
He waved at Roxie to get out, but she leaned into his chest instead, her soaked dress clinging to her body, nearly transparent.
Ethan went silent. Then came the sound of suppressed breathing and clothes rustling.
I listened quietly, suppressing my nausea.
A while later, Ethan gave a low cough and said, “She’s gone now.”
“Babe, can you transfer the sixty million? The client’s getting anxious.”
He was calling me “babe,” while his hand was clearly exploring Roxie’s dress.
I turned away in disgust and gave a short reply. “Got it.”
Before he could speak again, I added, “Roxie reminded me–she just graduated, right? She probably needs to gain more field experience.”
“We happen to be expanding in South Africa. She can head over next week.”
Ethan paused and instinctively responded, “She’s just a young girl. How could she handle hardship in a place like that?”
I let out a soft laugh. “I chose to sponsor her back then because I believed she could handle
hardship.”

“What now, she’s gone soft?”
Back when I found her, she didn’t even own one decent outfit. I was the one who brought her out of
that mountain town.
And this is how she repays me? A little support turns into deep resentment. I really raised a dog that
bites the hand that feeds it.
Seeing that I was determined to send Roxie to South Africa, Ethan’s tone grew harsh. “No way.
She’s not going. Send someone else.”
My gaze turned frigid.
Since the day we met, no matter whether he was genuine or not, Ethan had never spoken to me this
way.
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with him. I said calmly, “Sixty million, or South Africa. You pick.”
Ethan panicked, his tone turning sharp with anger.
“Vivian, you’re crossing the line! She just came to drop off a document, and you’re trying to ship
her overseas?”
“I didn’t realize you could be so cruel and unreasonable!”
I looked at Roxie-half-dressed and curled up in Ethan’s arms-and nearly laughed from the rage
boiling in my chest.
Ethan’s shamelessness truly had no bounds.
“So you don’t want the sixty million then?”
Roxie’s eyes flickered with resentment, and she sniffled, crying on cue. “Ms. Blake, it’s my fault. I
shouldn’t have come to see him so late…”
“Please don’t argue because of me. I’ll leave, okay?”
Ethan pulled her tightly into his arms, filled with pain. “No one’s making you leave. I still run this family.”
Even while cuddling his mistress, Ethan didn’t forget to scold me. “Vivian Blake, you’ve pushed too far! You think I can’t come up with a few million without you?”
“Let me remind you- this authority you have? I gave it to you. I can take it back.”
With a loud “click,” he hung up the phone. Then he took something from Roxie’s wrist and tossed it
